and yet you still haven't stated why a drawn out political discussion belongs in the fg/ss forum, especially given the fact that there's a forum where CM's belong, and a forum for political discussion. When we want to avoid political threads, we don't go to the political forum.

when do we get a mod ruling on this? koffee, you there, or are you waiting in line for "creed reconstituted" tickets

Because that is the way this place is structured. I planted posts for the Kenosha Veldrome in both the Fixed/SS and Track sub-forums, only to have the Track submission deleted. Probably b/c it was more effectivley presented in the main sub-forum header.
Anything that morphs into a Advocacy/Political/Religious discussion (or something else) should be moved to the appropriate area. OneTinSloth posted something about being attacked in this forum - and it was moved accordingly. For starters, that thread might have belonged in here, but at a certain point it no longer did. Joe has taken the time to set up the forums in a such manner that people who want to read specific topics can do so. The thread will get better visibility for the people who care about whatever topic is being discussed when properly situated.

My vote: MOVE THIS THREAD OUT OF HERE. I don't crap in your Cheerios, don't spread babbley politics in my fixed gear forum - unless it is humorous or VERY relevant to Fixed Gear/Track/Single Speed (as in a law banning one of these riding styles)

I asume you are kidding... If not, there are quite a few other much less political posts you may participate in.

But honestly this discussion of "too political the CM" I find interesting,.

You may say you came here to avoid such things, but you are non-the-less still here.

I came out of lurking today because this was a good discussion for me. THIS IS WHY I COME HERE.

Cheers,
David J.

That's kind of a divisive and arrogant spin against Republicans. What about optimism and self reliance, such as the "Govenator's" speech? Arnold came here to get away from "progressiveness".

The Critical Mass is VERY much about THIS FORUM! If you cannot see how closely they relate I can spell it out for you... but I know you are mostly intelligent people.

If a thread strays from it's original intent I see that as good. We can all learn from each other here. Just MOVE ON to one of many other threads more specific to your needs.

This thread is a discussion about an event (CM) that is near and dear to many FIXED GEAR and SINGLE-SPEED enthusiasts.

I say keep it. There is no harm in it and too much good.

Cheer, Cheer, Cherrio,
David

Wrong. I recommend you do a Poll on how many people in here are regular participants in CM rides. You'd be surprised.
Additionally, how the HELL is CM relevant to fixed gear? I am VERY interested on your findings and the data you used to make this assumption.

Sorry, I do not have any data. I got into fixed gear a few years ago. I did however find out about Critical Mass through fixed gear friends... as well as this forum. CM comes up from time to time here. The few times I have participated in the CM I have always experienced a large fixed gear attendance. Also the general attitude I have experienced among FG people has been pro CM and generally progressive in nature.

I like to come here. I like to read the posts. I like to participate in this thread. I ride fixed gear. I go to critical mass.

Have a nice day,
David J.

One person's experience does not make the world.
Get over yourself. My fixie friends in Chicago HATE CM. Your point has been defeated by its own construct.

The title says it all..RNC Critical Mass
Republican National Convention...seems like a FG topic to me
Critical Mass...I always that that was advocacy...supposedly

If you think those topics belong here you probably have patchouli in your stash pocket. May this thread be banished so we can get back to our usual stupidity!

I do apologize for "ruining" your thread.

I was excited to see a CM post in the Fixed Gear forum that brings it all together for me. I was enjoying myself.

It is a shame that this has caused so much distress.

It's funny how I check and read this forum everyday... and the one time I feel inclined to participate, because two interests of mine manage to collide, the opportunity is plagued with resistance.

Again I am sorry about the distraction I have caused. I shall go elsewhere to discuss "RNC CM" with fellow fixed gear people...

I only assumed that a thread titled "RNC Critical Mass" on the Fixed Gear forum would yield to such discussions. I was only trying to point out that for me these thing were relevant!

Regards,
David J.

Don't give yourself too much credit there bud. It wasn't ever "our" thread, which was our point from the beginning, doesn't belong here. Nor are we distressed, or anything more than annoyed.

I enjoy reading your whiny posts about "your" forum being contaminated.
Why'd I have to go and donate then all this bs occurs?

aaah, I don't think they meant that ("my forum") so much, as much as it belongs in "Advocacy"

Yet you are still arguing with me... this is rich.

I'm just trying to explain myself and my interest in this post. I understand your disinterest in this topic...that is why you have the right to NOT PARTICIPATE. But in the end...I welcome our exchange.

I was just trying to engage the original posters, whom found this topic interesting and relevant, in a discussion of relevancy.

Take care,
David J.

This thread was great! Could've been moved to the Jokes & Humor sub-forum, though.

"An opportunity plagued with resistance." I've already used that twice at work, today. Thanks for the gem.

now if only you guys directed your energies towards cycling rather than pointless message board bickerings, Lance might have some real competition....

seriously... i think its time for this argument to end. yes, maybe this belongs in the advocacy board, but i don't like frequenting multiple boards. ergo, it was posted here. FURTHERMORE, i mention nothing having to do with the RNC in my original post. i merely included that to concisely express that the critical mass was in NYC and on the eve of the RNC.
