I will roll through stop signs after making sure it's safe, but I will always wait at red lights. It gives me a nice rest and if any cars come up to the intersection, I help improve their opinion of cyclists on the road.

My evidence isn't based in science or analysis it is observation. In example, I read story about a girl in a car that got killed by some one running a read light, he had used illegal drugs prior to the crash. The other day I saw some one driving a car that had been horribly rear ended, the driver had a neck brace on. Whether it is Jaguar, BMW, Rolls, Fords, Kia these cars are driven by absent minded drivers. Eating, smoking, cell-phone use, cosmetics, sun, children, radio, emotional state, are all environmental factors that make it difficult to safely navigate vehicles.

Had a couple of logging trucks play the "how close can I get game" with us while riding along the Hood Canal on hwy 101 this week. There is very little, if any, shoulder in sections so vehicles approaching from the rear were a concern. My stoker (wife) started pointing to shoulder huggers to move over. About 75% of all vehicles moved across the double yellow line, but there were enough close encounters for us to decide not to ride back. A couple of logging trucks came within a foot of us when there was no oncoming traffic and could have easily crossed the center line. I took that as a "stay off of my road" intimidation. The other scary drivers were large RVs with drivers who didn't seem to have any clue as to where their vehicle was on the right side. They seemed to be focused solely on not crossing the Sacred Center Line. Next ride will be on a more rural road.

Forget about it being a Jaguar. It could be a Lamboghini, Porsche, Ferrari, or a Ford Pinto, and the driver would still be a moron to pull a stunt like that.

I was passed by flatbed 18-wheelers hauling concrete slabs to a job site, earlier in 2011. The drivers didn't care how close they came to me. The type of road doesn't matter, motorists' will still do it.

Seriously folks... do we really have to discuss how ignorant and just plain silly it is to generalize this sort of stuff? Really? Someone doesn't actually know that? Every SUV driver is a selfish prick? Every Honda driver is an intelligent, courteous person? Hooookaaay,

It's not that you have to be a special kind of asshat to drive a Jaguar. It's just that special kinds of asshats love Jaguars.

And I'll stand up and be counted as one of those who don't like people who drive expensive cars. It's self-indulgent gluttony. (I feel the same way about fancy weddings. I could, no doubt, come up with other examples. But you get the idea.)

I admire a lot of cars. But they're Chevys and Hyundais and stuff like that. I don't admire cars that cost three times as much as my house.

Oh well, enough ranting.

But I'll bet that if we could accurately measure rude and selfish road behavior we'd see a link with cost of vehicle.

What's funny about all you crying about having to stop for a red light would be the same ones screaming to execute the driver who hit one of you that ran the light!!!

We're trying to get away from that image I'd like to see a little old lady thrashing an XFR round a track though

Well if nothing else it proves that not all stupid drivers drive pickups or SUVs.

Dorkiest - Toyota Camry/ Corolla

Most drunk - US Made Pickup trucks

Most distracted - female college-aged drivers in Yaris, or similar econo-box driving whilst on cell phone

Most lesbian - VW/Subaru/Volvo

Jaguar - outlier, not even in the stats

Things have changed, but there was a time when I was convinced that all minivans came equipped with a device that turned the driver into a complete self absorbed idiot, when they got behind the wheel. At that point, the only minivan that hadn't buzzed me, honked at me, or displayed other jack ass behavior was old, rusty, and beat up. I was convinced that the driver IQ suppressing device had failed due to age and neglect.

These days, it's mostly SUV drivers that behave like that, but it's far from uniform.

I think history of family vans have always been like that, I remember the days of the VW Vanigan or whatever they called the stupid and ugly thing, people drove those like they were stoned all the time...wait, that's right, they were!

I love SUV drivers in the winter. Around where I live we get snow or ice covered highways and streets, so these smart SUV drivers put their vehicles into AWD mode and go barreling down the highways at 55 or more thinking their impervious to slippery conditions. That's why so many of them are found stuck off the side of the road or in the middle median in a funny position during that time of the year. At least it's entertaining.

Best comment so far. Likely wasn't so much a bad driver as a bad front end on the car. As a former jaguar owner I can say the best day of my life was the day it was sold.

A Jag for three times the price of your house? Either your house is a matchbox or your Jags are seriously overpriced. Or you didn't consider that some people buy a used car.

I like expensive cars even though I have no burning desire to own one. I like overtaking someone in their Ferrari when they are stuck in urban traffic and I can sail past on my bike. A while back a friend and I were on mountain bikes and both sailed past a pimped out Bentley Continental that was stuck in traffic, and the driver looked most unimpressed.

Actually some of you should drive a Jag, especially the older 94 XJ series. I use to own a XJ12 and that car was a very comfortable car to drive long distances in. The XJ6 was just as good comfort wise but lack some the power that the V12 put out though the gas mileage sucked with the 12, but it was silky smooth power plant. I got rid of it due to the gas mileage and the expense of keeping it up, I only had one issue with it, at around 110,000 miles the front end went out and cost a lot to get fixed, so I got a bit nervous and got rid of it after that.

I haven't drove the newer ones but being based on a Ford Mondeo (basically a Taurus) platform I would be skeptical of it's ride quality vs the one I had.

The thing to remember is that the Mondeo is front-wheel drive, whereas every jag is rear-wheel drive. The suspension, engines and on board systems are all different. They're not really comparable.

But they used the same platform, a module platform that could be adapted for different drive train systems thus reducing the cost of having to build a new platform from scratch. Look it up.

Your entitled alright, your entitled to live in America, and entitled to make as much money as you can, I find no fault in that at all as long as it was done honestly of course. I don't get those percenter (no such word, I made if up) whiners, any one of those people would finish their college probably being paid for by their upper percentage parents, and would quit sitting around complaining could go out and become a entitled percenter!! If anything go out get a job, use that time sitting around crying to look for work, geez. I hate people like that.

I'm laid off, I'm busy much of my day(s) looking for a new job, I'm not going to go down to some park and pitch my tent to complain about some crap like that, that would take time away from job searching and serve no purpose.

My house is a beaut! It looks to me like it was only meant to last about 30 yrs. It's now at about 65 and for the last twenty I've been keeping it together by the skin of my teeth. Only those who like ugly ducklings and homely dogs would like my house. But I do!

And, no, I don't have any photos. Modesty forbids.

And though I haven't gotten hard figures, I'm thinking that, for instance, an XK8 would probably fetch about triple what I could sell this house for today.
