Cruiser Question part 2...

OK this one is just a simple question hopefully...how hard is it to go tubeless on a cruiser? I've narrowed it down to either the Electra Cruiser Lux 1 or the Felt Bixby 1-SP. Here in AZ I have tons of thorns so tubes are pretty much useless plus heavy (Slime tubes). Ditching them all together would seem ideal, your thoughts?

I rode my cruiser around a lot in avondale. Honestly, I ran around with about 8oz of slime in each tube and didn't think much about it, I never thought cruisers were supposed to be light. (Mine weighed in at 58lbs)

You won't avoid any more thorns going tubeless, and the flat protection might be marginally better, but I run a sealant even on my tubeless bikes. Go to walmart (gasp, not a big box store) and pick up a few Hutchinson tubes for the bike, a 16oz bottle of slime, throw half in each tube and forget about it for a while. Just enjoy riding. You'll find no real gains by shedding a pound or two on a cruiser

Just DON'T try solid tubes. You will hate the word taco for the rest of your life.

I can't agree with that. Although I dig the slacker geometry of cruisers, I don't enjoy riding a slug. Personally, I DO notice each pound lost, especially on the wheels.

Thanks again guys...

I'm past the point of making a light weight cruiser, just looking for simplicity, running tubeless for me is more about convenience than weight savings. While the weight savings is a bonus obviously, I find running tubeless is way more reliable compared to tubes IMHO. I guess I'll just have to buy the friggin cruiser to test out my theory lol.
