I recently received a steel framed beach cruiser from a friend, and I need help identifying it. It appears to be a relatively modern frame, perhaps even less than a decade old. The serial number does not match any system that I'm familiar with at this time. I would like to know if this bike is worth investing time/money in, any help will be greatly appreciated.



The serial number is a 13 character alphanumeric setup, beginning with SNXDS********

I have looked at several manufacturer's serial number coding systems, and I have tried to visually match the frame and crankset to several manufacturer's designs, both to no avail.

I almost forgot, there is a small head badge that says Chillo if that is of any help.

I don't know whether there are valuable collectors' cruisers from the past few years but that looks a lot like the same frame and components you would find on any department store cruiser. Probably made by next or pacific cycles in China.

It probably won't break on you but it might be cheaper to just pick up a new one unless you want to deviate from stock components.

Thanks GT. I don't really care if it's a valuable collector's item or anything like that, I'm just interested in solid well-built bicycles that I can keep for a lifetime. It sounds like this is probably not one of those.

Perhaps in the same way I found an Sun Race bike in the trash a few months ago. It would seem to be a perfect Beach Bike it had new 2 inch x 26 tires which is good. It also has a huge Wald? basket on it and not so good looking chrome fenders. Huge handlebars and a Workman type seat, or at least thats what it sez. But some how during its life someone welded the biggest set of nuts on it that I ever seen on it, they will need to go. Is it a waste of time?

Did SunRace actually ever produce bicycles? I thought they were a component manufacturer, but I could be wrong. If the bike you have is a good frame, then I would say that it's worth the effort to grind those huge nuts off. Do you have any pics of it that you can post here?

There is a popular company that sells cruiser/industrial bikes under the name "Sun". AFAIK, SunRace never made frames nor completes.

When it stops snowing here I have a better idea what it is. It's under a drift of snow. I know the paint was in bad shape and I started to paint it semi gloss black. it was red so I think I'll leave the chain gruad red
