I recently bought a new frame for a used bike I found with excellent components (on a frame that needs to be stripped and repainted). I enjoy working on my bikes, but have had the LBS take care of headset and bottom bracket installation in the past. I've now found a bike coop where I can use the tools. What do I need to know - especially in terms of not screwing things up - for removing and installing the headset and bottom bracket. General tips, do's and don'ts requested...
Headset is 1" threaded Dura-ace. BB I also believe is DA (68mm english). New frame is titanium (tisports).
Are reaming/facing generally necessary? Harder to do on a titanium frame?

Remove bb with bb tool by rotating tool towards the front of the bike. Non-driveside side is traditional threading, driveside is reverse threading. Removal of the headset is accomplished by breaking things down until only the headset cups remain in the frame. Get mr. hammer and mr. headset cup removal tool, whack 'em out, and you're good.
On a decent frame, reaming and facing are generally not necessary; don't even think about trying it on a ti frame. Ti frame+tools=useless tools.

I figured that steel tools would have a tough time with ti.
You make things sound pretty simple - I guess all I really need are the tools.

Ti frames are typically done at the factory.Originally Posted by jo5iah

As an added bonus, the Park headset remover tool can also be used to annoy people with really sensitive hearing.
