And I agree with Andrew Stewart, multi-tools really suck.
+1. I had an old motobecane with stripped RD hanger threads. I drilled out the hole and used a dropout saver. Worked like a charm.

Good to hear it was fixable. I find that installing the RD is a bit fiddly. It does seem to be a finer thread than typical metric. I know when I bought the Park hanger aligner, first time I tried to use it it didn't seem to want to thread in. So I went over to a steel bike and used the dropout/hanger to chase the threads on the Park tool. I don't think it needed much, just using the steel hanger and running it in and out a couple times did the trick. When I went back to the alloy removable hanger it threaded in without fuss.
