ISO flat bar end plug hack

My Masi handlebar has thick walls, so the traditional handlebar plugs are too big. The ID is about 5/8". I'm lookin for something cheap/free. A wine bottle cork would be great, cept I don't drink.

BTW, I've been ridin around w/o plugs since February, np. What is the purpose of end plugs anyway for a flat bar bike?

Plugs are so the bar doesn't skewer you if you fall on it in a crash.

Cheers

Bikes: old clunker

It doesn't take much to be a hacker these days. (sigh)

Maybe file down your "traditional handlebar plugs"?

Do you know what a cookie cutter looks like and does? Your bars can do the same thing to you, flat bars or not.

Many restaurants have a jar of old wine corks they keep around for some reason; I'll bet you could talk them out of a cork or two.

Or Home Depot sells them Search Results for*cork stopper*at The Home Depot or Lowe's Shop Cork Stoppers at Lowes.com!

If none of your friends, families, or neighbors drink either, you could try begging from a restaurant or bar, or check a local thrift store. But I'm betting you know someone who drinks wine every now and then...

Maybe a set of the type that screw in and are removable? Like these?

ODI Aluminum End Plug > Components > Grips & Tape > Bar Plugs | Jenson USA

These have a smaller plug part that looks like it would slide into just about anything. Then lock them down using a hex wrench.
