Need Silca Pista part

One part on my trusty Pista pump finally gave up the ghost.

It's the top cap or neck on top of the cylinder where the pump piston goes through. Here's a pic:

Any ideas where I can get a replacement for this? If nothing else, I'll have to have someone machine me one.

Bikes: too many sparkly Italians, some sweet Americans and a couple interesting Japanese

I can't really tell how bad it is, if not too bad there is this stuff like J-B Weld 8237 PlasticWeld Plastic Repair Epoxy Putty. If the cap take hits it probably would not last but if it just guides the pump shaft maybe. I think a craig's list or ebay for a used pump might be a lot cheaper than machine work unless you have connections with machinists.

Silca is still in business and may be able to provide replacement parts for the older pumps. Here is the contact info: https://silca.cc/pages/contact-us

However, Silca is under new ownership and has gone WAY upscale so don't be surprised if the part is quite expensive if available.

Silca stated they don't make these anymore and I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Anyways, I was looking through my scrap and found a poly rod that roughly matched the ID of the pump body.

After some cutting and some time on the drill press, I ended up with this:

In order to make the stop on the top of the cap, I figure I'd melt the top and mushroom it on my counter top. I tried using my stove:

It was going way too slow. I then pulled out my MAP torch and made quick work of it:

The trick is to apply even pressure when mushrooming the top of the cap:

Re-drilled the 10.3mm hole (13/32") on the top cap (because of all the mushrooming), measure, and cut to size:

Put the cap in place, drill the side holes, and finished!!!

I put a small dimple on the top to indicate where the hole is at for future maintenance use (for alignment).

Very nice fix. Given the two side screws, I wonder if the "mushroom cap" on top is really needed.
