Bikes: 2008 Novara Randonee - love it. Previous bikes:Motobecane Mirage, 1972 Moto Grand Jubilee (my fave), Jackson Rake 16, 1983 C'dale ST500.

In which case it would not record mileage, which is what the OP is wanting.

Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here!

Just put a piece of tape or a rubber cap over the display to hide it while riding and read the final mileage when you finish the ride. Perfect fix at no additional expense.

That is the exact one I have. After 33 years it is still working and believe it or not is slightly more accurate than my Cat Eye electronic computer. I'm just too lazy to take it off the bike AND it'll never need a battery replaced.
