Broken di2
I am running the new di2 set up on my road bike, with the internal caballing through the handlebars. I have used previous di2 systems and have never had a problem like this before.
I came down in a crash yesterday, over the handlebars, and since then, both my front and rear mechs have refused to shift. I tried crash recovery mode but this was unsuccessful. I then tried to connect my bike to my laptop to use the E-tube software to see if this revealed anything but it told me I had to update certain components. I allowed it to do this, however the update failed and since then the problems just seem to have become worse.
The junction box now no longer lights up at all, and the laptop doesn't recognise my bike. I tried disconnecting the battery and all the individual components and plugging them back in and this worked partially, but still wouldn't find the right hand shifter, despite me double and triple checking that everything was connected properly.
I tried to isolate the shifter and the laptop became unable to find the bike at all again, and it remained that way even when I reconnected all of the other components. It cannot even find the battery or the junction box.
Please would anyone who knows about di2 and has any suggestions as to what I should do next respond to this as I am out of ideas and there are no local bike shops who are able to do anything.

1) Verify components are working individually using a PCE-1 or PCE-2. Shifters, derailleurs, and Junction A. The small diagnostic function of the charger only works if the system has integrity (which you don't know yet).
2) After verifying that the parts work (or do not), replace any [suspected] damaged E-tube wires with a known good one.
3) Once the system is properly connected, and you know you have no broken components, do a firmware recovery using the PCE-1/2. You should then be able to update as normal.
Note that putting incompatible parts in the system will also cause it not to function properly (mixed mountain/road derailleurs, d-fly with 1st gen batteries, etc...).

No, it's making sure you have an LBS who is capable of being an LBS in 2019, not stuck in the past, Any LBS today should have the capability of servicing electronic shifting bikes, and if they are selling them and they can't, they shouldn't be in business.
Granted that Electronic shifting isn't too user serviceable, but for those who can easily afford it, would be surprised if they are capable, or wish to do more than change an innertube and then only if really needed (these are good customers for LBS's)
It's beneficial for Shimano and SRAM to ensure that all bike shops can service their components, I know my LBS has had training from Shimano (would be very surprised if Shimano doesn't do this for all markets worldwide) for this, also for E-bikes, again, if they can't service Bosch and Shimano, they need to look at what they want to be as a shop,

It could be that your crash wrenched the handlebars around enough to pull the wires out of one or both of the shifters. Maybe pull the handlebar tape off and check to see if the connection s are good.
EDIT:. Oops...sounds like you did that althaty.

Here's how to resurrect a bricked BT110 Shimano battery:
1. Install the Windows 10 eTube app.
2. Purchase the SM-PCE1 "PC linkage device."
3. After you launch the eTube app, DO NOT choose your bike type. Instead, click on the icon of the Di2 cable. (If you choose your bike type it will ask you to connect "to the bike" and this will fail to read the battery just as it does with the SM-BCR or with the iOS app.)
4. This will allow you to connect the PCE1 directly to your battery. It will try to recognize the battery, fail, and then ask you if if it's a battery that's connected.
5. Say yes, and then it will try to overwrite new firmware. Note: it may fail the first time.
It takes less than a minute to overwrite the firmware. Once it does so successfully, your battery is restored with the newest firmware.
From there you can upgrade the rest of the components firmware and the iOS eTube app should work, etc.

Hi guys,
I'm posting my problem here since the thread is not so old.
I have an ultegra 6870 di2 groupset and yesterday the rear derailleur stopped working suddenly while I was riding.
From what I already read on internet looks like it is in crash mode:
- battery is charged
- front derailleur is working
- checked the cables (except for the ones in conjunction unit B which is internally)
- long-pressing the rear shifter will light the battery led and the RD is making a noise for a while but not moving at all
What I tried:
1) pressing the button on conjunction A unit for +5 seconds for recovery mode doesn't seem to work. The red light appears but it is not flashing and keeping the button pressed will turn off the red light and RD is making a short noise. From what I've read, the red light should start flashing and when rotating the cranks RD should go over the entire cassette, but it doesn't.
2) Disconnected the battery and reconnected it after a while
3) Did a successfully firmware update. Now when I long press the conjunction A button the red light is solid and if I keep pressing it, the green light appears too.
Probably the nearest shop with PCE-1 unit is at 8 hours long drive so if you have any suggestion of what else I can try please let me know.
I have read somewhere that it is possible to manually reset the crash mode (if that is really the problem in my case) but didn't find any information about how to do it.
Thank you,
-Paul

I am in exactly this state. Did you ever find a fix as I am trying to fix mine having the exact same problem and state(s) as you posted.
Thanks,
Jeroen
