Stem riser or highly angled stem?
I'm tired of my single bike being so much less comfortable than my tandem notwithstanding the relative harshness of the Al single. The tandem handlebars are approximately level with the saddle. I've got a 3" or so drop on the single. Single top tube is a bit longer, but easily compensated by stem length. In fact the saddle-to-handlebar length of the single is actually a bit less than the tandem. So, I want to raise the single bars about 2". What's the "best" way to do this: high angle stem or stem riser? Both will "work", but it appears that I'll be more easily be able to tune my position with a riser; there imply is not that much choice in a high angle stem and I don't want an adjustable stem. Any input would be appreciated.

what kind of stem are you looking for? quill, threadless, bar clamp dia.? if threadless, how many spacers o you have to play around with? Pickings are getting slim for quill stems but there are plenty of options for threadless. Why stop your spreadsheet at 110mm when stems are easily found up to 120-130mm? A steep angled stem will be lighter and stiffer than a stem raiser.
here's a graphical calculator you can play with. A 120mm*35degree stem gets close to your goal.

Threadless, 1-1/8". I agree 120mm/35deg comes close, but I'm not finding a lot of choice in the more angled stems. Open to any internet retailer suggestions. Handlebar is 31.8 mm.

That should pretty much give you unlimited stem choices.

Niagara Cycle (www.niagaracycle.com) offers a variety of up-angled stems with 1-1/8" steerer clamps and 31.8 mm bar clamps. Here are a couple of possibilities:

Look around their web site for others in the length you want.

Bikes: Trek 5.2 and Trek 2.3 WSD upgraded to full Ultegra.
There is a part called a steerer extender, "heads-up" device that will do exactly what it says. For example: https://www.universalcycles.com/shopp...ls.php?id=7413
That should pretty much give you unlimited stem choices.
