27" tire problem.

I just got my hands on a vintage 10 speed with 27" wheels. The old tire rotted and broke into pieces so I ordered these new tires to replace. https://www.amazon.com/Cheng-Shin-C63...3027563&sr=8-4

Problem is that at the valve stem area, the tire isn't seat all the way no matter how hard i push it in and in turn, there is a lump when I inflate my tire. What can I do to solve this? I am afraid to order another tire because I am afraid this will happen again.

How old? Pre hook bead rims, perchance?

I can't get my hands on a camera at the moment. But basically, everywhere else on the wheel, the bead is securely in tact except for around the valve stem where the bead is slightly raised. The bead has slipped when I pumped it up for the first time without noticing and popped the tube.

think about a different set of wheels. 700 32 is just 4mm smaller in radius
for brake function.

I don't know how old, quite honestly. I could be the original tires to the rims. HOwever, the front wheel has a tire replaced and is holding up just fine.

You could try placing the inner tube inside the tire partially inflated. Use your tire levers to place tire back on wheel and do not attempt to push or pull the valve stem all the way in. Once you have the tire placed on the rim attempt to inflate by holding the valve stem between your fingers while inflating. Sometimes valve stems do not fit flush to the rim. You'll notice that the base of the valve stem is hard and rounded. By pushing the valve stem into the rim hole, you could be making the bulge prominent. Hope this helps!

The wheel is redished and converted to a fixed gear. I don't know if the chainline will work out as the chainline is perfectly straight at the moment.

The tube is extra thick around the valve stem. Make sure the extra thick part is pushed up past the beads of the tire before inflating. i.e. make sure the thick part doesn't get caught between the rim and the tire bead.

Looks like we cross posted.
