Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

Next time save your champagne corks, they make much classier bar ends.

Champagne corks shoved into the ends of handlebars has got to be the stupidest looking think I've ever seen on a bicycle.

I'm still looking for CK bar end plugs narrow enough for my handlebars. I'll settle for Calvin Klein at this point.

When someone does notice it, a typical comment is something like, "Oh, I used to have a bike just like that." My interest piqued, I'll ask, "you had a Paramount?" They'll look at me blankly and say something like, "Oh, I don't know what it was called, just some bike we bought at JC Penney." I'll be tempted, for a moment, to explain to them about "the cage" at the Chicago Schwinn plant where the Paramounts were made by hand of Reynolds 531 and Nervex Professional lugs.....and then I just let it pass. They really don't care.

I don't think it's real; it's way too clean and shiny.

this is just what i don't get, i've never had the slightest problem with any of my headsets. granted, i haven't been biking for 20 years (maybe they go bad over time???). i know CK stuff is supposed to be great, i even have wheels with some CK hubs, but a headset seems like such a strange piece of equipment to make all fancy. it's like having high priced door hinges. maybe one day headsets will excite me.

I agree. To me, a headset is something that just needs to work. It doesn't even need to work well. As long as the bars turn and there's no play in the system it's good with me. I don't have much money now, but even if I did I'd spend it first on things much less trivial than a fancy headset.

Sorry to get the thread off track, I know this isn't really what it's about. Seems like a lot have focused in the CK comment...

Just shave down some wine corks and set them in nearly flush.
