Ditto on almost any automotive bearing grease.
One thing not mentioned yet is that grease is less likely to be accidentally contaminated with crud or whatever over repeated uses if it comes in a squeeze tube as opposed to a tub.

I am sure that it is all good. I tend to use Phil for bearings and a tub of Red devil for seatposts and the like.

I don't like the white lithium grease....it seems to be that is gets more hard and cruddy in not regularily serviced bearings

I load grease into a big oral syringe so it is less messy and you can apply it fairly precisely.

I load the tub in a greaser as intended. It may be awkward to grease tiny cups of a bike bearing with a half a meter 2kilo greaser but it does it's job wherever I need it (bikes/cars/trucks/buses etc. I use automotive grease because i need it in most of stuff I grease which is in the automotive part. Bikes are 1% out of the usage I get with the greaser tool)

That is a great tip!
I can see how that would be especially handy for loading bearing races with grease.
The farm supply place here sells big horse syringes that would be perfect for the shop. Next time I pic up a sack of chicken scratch I'll get a few.

I use high-temp automotive bearing grease. Get a lot for the $$ and I like the red color.

you mean you're not supposed to apply it with your... hootus?

i use the marine type, too. i re-do all of my hubs between christmas and new years, and there's always enough left that i could leave it and not feel bad, but it's so cheap it would be dumb to spend all that time taking them apart and then leave dirty grease in the hubs.

Not sure what you meant but urban dictionary may have cleared that aspect. Greaser - greaser tool - grease gun - this thing

This was years ago but I went to a wheel builder where I live and he was telling me about some clear grease from Italy I believe. I never heard of it and never ran across it. Doesn't seem like it's too popular here either. Was the guy pulling my leg or there really does exist something like this? I would think clear would be a good color to have for grease.

Grease is like soap. As long as you use it reguarly the kind is of little difference. Andy.
