That's the last I've heard. I heard about the stroke but not the crash. Maybe the stroke caused the crash. Very sad. I haven't heard of any recovery.

Since manufacturers will probably ignore the issue forever;
my solution is to only use inexpensive square taper cranksets (typically alivo grade)
when it comes time to replace a worn chainring, the price of individual aftermarket rings is comparable to the crankset itself; thus I simply purchase the same crankset again
The pedal/crank interface wear problem is avoided/overshadowed by drivetrain wear.
The old crankset can then be sold/ used on a flipper bike to recoup some cost

I haven't seen Jobst out on the road for a while. He crashed in January 2011, descending Sand Hill Road without a helmet, took a pretty big hit to the head, and spent quite a while recovering. Ray Hosler, one of Jobst's traditional ride buddies, reported in October 2011 that he saw Jobst, and he was recovered and in good spirits. I haven't heard anything since then.

Here is Ray's blog post from April of 2012 about Jobst getting a visit from some friends: https://rayhosler.wordpress.com/2012/...y-fallen-snow/
