Been looking into lights for my bike and I want something that doesn't need batteries,do you know of a few different means and things I can build myself?

Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here!

Hub and tire generators are widely available and many riders have assembled their own lights. Try the Electronics forum here for specific help.

As cheap as very good lights are, it would surprise me if you could make anything to match the performance level/price value of off the shelf items.

Go for it, good luck.

A search in the Commuting Forum will keep you busy for days and leave you thoroughly confused.

hub dynamo for power + some LED head and tail lights , you can assemble the manufactured parts on your bike ,
but to build your own off a DIY circuit board from scratch in your own workshop,
try the gizmo forum Archives Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets
