Time to replace BB
6200 miles on my tiagra 4600 crankset, BB feels "notchy...gritty.." when
putting power into left crankarm. Removed crank, can feel roughness when
turning bearing with my finger. My ? is, would I notice upgrading to a 5700 or 6800
BB? Or save a few $$ and stay with 4600 BB.

Main differences are lighter construction. Often the actual rolling elements are identical between various Shimano BBs (not sure on your exact model compared to the asked replacements). But what does change are the materials for the outer housing. The only type I would avoid is a Bb using a plastic LH/retaining "cup" (which is only found on tapered square versions). Do clean out the frame's shell well and coat the shell and threaded portion of the B with HD "water proof" grease or anti seize compound. Andy.
