ISIS BB - regreasing

Is there a way with out tearing the BB apart to regrease the BB. I found a thread that has instructions for replacing the bearings and such. However, I do not really want to go and hammer away at my ONLY BB.

I am not a fan of ISIS as it tends to wear quickly. So I may replace the crankset and save myself the $20 in parts.

Thoughts?

Are the bearings sealed mechanisms? If they are, then surely the only part worh greasing are the BB cup threads.

I think they were only made as cartridge types, so you have to reverse engineer
how to take them apart to replace the cartridge bearings
or get to them to pop off seals and add grease

have not tried .
you may find a square taper crank replacement will serve in the long run..
as the BB's of that type are common.
ISIS was a Go around for Shimano Patents, then the external bearing stuff was the latest
tail to chase , so the ISIS passed away.

new GPX cups with bearings are not that expensive. I have a new set for my R900 waiting to be swapped in. The original set has 6 seasons on it- including some monsoon rides.

ISIS BBs don't have much room for bearings between the BB housing and the large axle. FSA Platinums get around that by using double row bearings. I found them to be the most long lived ISIS BB back when I was using ISIS.

But I think GXP (or Shimano external bearings) are better, if you're getting a new crank.

ISIS GigaPipe.
No noise. Slow as hell a lot of resistance in the pedal.
It appears to have cartridge bearings. Which I assume I can bang out and replace.
