Replacement BB cups for RaceFace Evolve cranks X-type BB

The manufactures make it hard dont they?

Ive already found enduroseals have replacement bearings for the raceface x-type BB, so thats good.

but what im finding very difficult is to find out if i can use a shimano BB (complete or just the cups) on the raceface crank that ive got.

68mm english thread

any help out there?

anybody else find the raceface x-type BB pretty crap?

Yes, you can.

Yes, they are.
Best and cheapest: replace the stock bearings with the Enduro stuff. Easy to do. The newer bearing I.D. is such that you don't need to use the crappy little spacer shims form the Race Face setup.

I did this just the other day from recs here...maybe it was even scrublover. I killed mine at Cohutta, TN

to OP, why are you finding that the RF cups are crap?

RaceFace, FSA and Shimano use the same design for their external bb setups, slight differences though between mountain and road versions. You also have Chris King and Phil Wood and Hope as alternatives in addition to the enduroforkseals.com choices. I've read of several complaining about the RF bearings. You could also try servicing the current bearings, should be able to extend their life that way if they're not completely shot.

If you're planning on keeping the cups I guess the list narrows down to enduroforkseals and Phil Wood (I'm currently trying a set of Phils in Shimano cups). Your riding season starts in the fall? Summers too warm?

the fall??? oh yeah thats autumn isnt it. ive seen/heard that in the movies.
our summer here gets hot but it also gets very very dry.
so its dusty hot and all the bush gets prickly and hard, oh and then there is the flies.
so can be done, people go early morn and alot of night rides.
buts its just more pleasant to be up in the hills, out in the bush after the rains. cool no dust and no bugs
