rims: single wall wienman 48 hole
tires: mongoose labeled kenda target cheapos

frame: 83 Diamondback Viper

bars: 4 peice dyno
stem: spin tech old school
seat: GT bmx circa mid 80's
cranks: one peice chromo
pedals: wellgo(mks graphite knockoffs)
chainwheel: proneck 45t
freewheel: acs 16t

Haha. Those are a bit old school. You should restore them to their prime just to have a kick with it.

That was the intention with the 83 viper but the frame is too rusted to bother and the other parts on it were trashed except the rims and stem. I stripped all the parts off and was gonna fix it up but I just decided there isn't enough there to do a serious resto. But I have been contemplating rebuilding it for fun and taking it to my local bmx track to see how fast it would be. The GT was gonna be my daily rider but the bike is just too old school for me to do any serious tricks on it for fear of it self destructing. You didn't tell me to lower my seat?

old bikes are meant to have the seats up high. i like the bikes but i would not freestyle on them in fear of self destruction. too much rust=unsafe.

GT is totally rust free and the DB only has cosmetic rust. They aren't really good for freestyle due to the scrawny 1" theaded headsets and 3/8" axles.

Nah it's pitted to the metal. I tried to clean up the fork with oxalic acid but it only got rid of all the rust and left the bare metal behind. Even if I could get the rust off the frame it would still need rechromed due to chrome just being plain old worn out. The nickel top plate has worn threw on the top tube and it no longer looks chrome up close. Thanks for the advice though!

Deal with it. It's just a thread where people post up their bikes.

This thread has no point. Everyone should just post up their new rides on the old thread when they get a new bike. No need to have two threads. It's forum clutter.

Yeah, that made absolutely no sense. Seriously, stop your complaining- it's only a thread. Bringing back the other thread will do absolutely nothing. Just post your bike checks and stop your bickering.

My parts still haven't come in from three weeks ago... so no bikecheck for me yet. They are also sending the wrong seat post so I may have to go elsewhere.

I wanted the Macneil Stump and they are trying to get me to buy the regular Macneil because the guy at the shop doesn't know what he's talking about and he thinks they are the exact same thing. I'm probably going to order the Animal post from Dan's since it is the exact same thing as the Stump except a little cheaper and has an Animal logo on it.
