Why would you spend that much money for it to be ugly?

Thats not even a big hub guard, and lots of people use them Why would to spend hundreds of dollars on a wheelset only to destroy it from grinds?

I understand why he has it, and it makes a lot of sense. But I just think it looks ugly. BMX isn't a fashion-statement anyhow so who cares. I mean look at Chase Hawk; he wears tight jean shorts.

Hey, thanks guys. I actually just got back from practice at the track with it. It rides like a friggin' dream. So smooth and fast. It's 19.1 pounds. I could have gotten it lighter too. The chain I'm using is the heaviest BMX chain there is, but it's the strongest. I'm also using Profile extra-thick tubes. I know I could get it to 17 pounds if I really wanted, but then it starts to become too light.

Yeah, I don't think I would really want my bike anything below 20 pounds right now. Weight is starting to become less of a factor as I get older.

Everytime I get on my bike it feels lighter. Upper body strength ftw.

I'm gonna bet money you can't get it down to 17lbs
I only say this because mine is only is 20.lbs and I have folding kevlar bead tires and that was weighed with egg beaters.

The master link looked strong and the backing plate is very thick, so that's why I left it (for now). I'll pop it out if it looks like it will give me trouble. I think I can pull two pounds off the bike if I wanted - lighter tubes, lighter tires, lighter chain, chop the seatpost, remove chain tensioners, etc. I think it would happen.

I don't know how big you are but don't sacrafice chain weight for strength.
besides from the looks of you bike your tall I would imagine a 17 lbs bike would be SQUIRRELY in the air.

If that is what he wants, so be it. Sounds like someone is jealous.

I could careless really but the guy at my track with a 2 foot scar up his stomach from a broken chain at the gate might suggest a stronger rather than lighter chain.
my frame is 5oz. lighter than his and my forks are 1.6oz lighter, brakes are lighter, my cranks are shorter,
tires are lighter, rims lighter, not sure about the hubs but I'm sure with Ti cassette, but maybe his cog is lighter.my seat post is chopped.
I don't have bar ends.
I just don't see how he could get it down 2 pounds. jealous, no I would like to see it. I can tell we have similar thoughts and dollars when it come to building a bike and I love his bike think it the Tits.
but to build a pro xl or larger to hold up a bigger guy lighter than 20lbs I want to see it done.
Hey Vert1go I'm not dissing you, I respect you, I'm just curious.
so if you think I'm a dick my apologies.

Probably a lie, because it looks like he has something there.
