...+1. It's one thing to joke about stolen bikes, because I do it too. But these endless speculations on whether a bike is stolen when there is absolutely no evidence one way or the other, and no practical outcome from them anyway just diminish the experience here.

Bicycles do get stolen. Some of them get sold on CL. Probably some of the bikes that get discussed here in valuations were stolen at one time or another. Nothing of practical value seems to be forthcoming from idle speculation on the internet about any of this.

yes- i live here and saw his CL ad- he mentioned it was in Norman (an OKC suburb, but home to OU university) - so a transient population base -- and a lot of people who just leave their campus bikes behind when they go off to law school.
Being a college town, it has its fair share of bike theft, but usually the type of low end stuff people leave chained up outside the dorms 24/7

i,m an insurance adjuster by trade and it is amusing how many Schwinn LeTours and the like i have seen that the owner claims is a 12 pound english racer that can be lifted with 1 finger, so it must be worth 2 grand or so

LOL, you would think the students would be a bit brighter than that regarding their Le Tours.

Boomer Sooner! Boomer Sooner! IMHO, the 3rd best fight song, besides the one from Ann Arbor and the other from South Bend.
When I lived in Tulsa in 1978-1979, my OKC and Norman friends, never considered Norman as a suburb to OKC, but then again, times change.

Its not necessarilly the students -- they seem to be content riding around on their $300 newish hybrids or hand me downs from others, ---- i get the wild value claims from people reporting a bicycle on an insurance claim for some reason

I am an OSU alumnus, but even i agree that Boomer Sooner is an impressive song !

Urban (or suburban) sprawl has made the whole metro area from the North end of Edmond to the South end of Norman one big mess now with little differentiation between areas except for the street signs --- lots and lots of Starbucks franchises, nice neighborhoods with over-extended homeowners and "Bed,Bath & Beyond" stores litter the landscape

Tulsa is much the same way now -- From Sand Springs to Jenks and extending up to Claremore is one big clustered up metropolis now too -- I drove to Broken Arrow from Norman to pick up a couple of early Diamond BAck hybrid ATB's a couple of nights ago and was thinking that as i was driving around

Thats progress i guess

What're the odds? It appears the seller and buyer both spend time 'round these parts:

Wow theres a bunch of little *****es on the site isnt there... and ya ive stuck my neck out on the line for a lot less than 165 too. Thanks for the advice though, Daddy. Simply had a buddy down the street he was happy with 160 so i went ahead and sold it and went and met the guy... Would I do it for no profit? No. For 10 bucks in gas and a thank you probably but I needed the extra money.

Don't worry about it, there are just some people who need to make baseless accusations and pass judgement. Best to ignore it, though I often can't take my own advice.
