Trek 600 Vintage Road Bike
I'm looking for a solid road bike for commuting between home and school. I came across this Trek 600 Vintage (link below) and was hoping someone could give me some advice. The seller is asking $250. Is this a reasonable price? If not what could I get the price down to? Ultimately for commuting how would this bike manage? Thanks

Looks like a 1983 600 in very good condition. Reynolds 531 is a good thing. https://www.vintage-trek.com/images/t...churePart1.pdf
That's a very big bike and it is a good price "IF" it fits you. I believe it would be a 25" or 63cm frame as The Trek vintage site does not list a frame bigger than 25" for a 600 model in 1983.
I have sold 5 or six large bikes in the last few months and the price is always lower than what one could get for say a 56cm frame. I did sell a 63cm Trek 500 in VGC for $275 2 months ago and it was a Reynolds 501 frame.
I don't know anything about the Suntour Blue Line bits. Someone else will though. Check it out if it's the right size for you. Can't go wrong with a vintage steel Trek. There are several BF folks in your neck of the woods that will know your market prices.

I've it was a 54-58cm size it would sell for over $300 pretty easily. If it fits, and is in as good shape as it looks, it's a good deal.
I have an '83 600 and it's a good rider. Commuting on it would be fine. It's what Trek called a "sport-touring" geometry. [Kind of an odd that with that designation it only has one water bottle braze-on, though].
He is optimistic about a 6 footer riding that bike. Mine is a frame size smaller (24") and at 5'11" I really think mine is larger than I need.

An '83 Trek 600 at $250 is a pretty decent deal - It's the same frame as the more famous Touring 620, and the ride is super.

Nice bike at a reasonable price. The jumbo size is a huge negative. But if that is the size you need, go for it. Make sure that seat post is not stuck. I am always weary, especially when I see it bottomed out.

Thats a nice bike and worth the money if you plan on keeping it for yourself. The frame size is only a negative to those that are vertically impaired. I'm 6'1" and ride a 400 series with a 25.5" frame and love it, and more important ...... it fits me.
Heck, even Grant Peterson says most folks are riding frames that are to small. Then again, its a given that the Carbon Fibre folk won't agree with Grant on much.
