HA! Indeed. One of my all-time faves. Watched it again just the other night. What a story. And maybe Connery's best role ever.

Wow, let's get this thread back on track. Another great Talking Heads live recording is "Live in Rome 1980" At the peak of their Belew period.

On track? I thought it was about leather saddles and fromunder problems.
Personally glad to see it derailed into music and movies.

My household is split on the Talking Heads. I really like them, but the wife loathes them with a passion. I think it is because of the general crazy psycho killer look of Byrne. Back in the day, he looked like the serial killer in the original "Manhunter" as well as the werewolf priest in "Silver Bullet." Those padded shoulder jackets he used to wear didn't help either. She doesn't like the music either. Speaking of movies, I must be the only one who much prefers Brian Cox's version of Hannibal Lecter over Anthony Hopkins version. Cox was scary, but believable. Hopkins was overly dramatic. I just wanted to step on him like a bug. The killer in the original "Manhunter" however, was one scary person!

I love the Talking Heads

No Talking Heads in my household.

We could talk about food if you like. What did y'all have for lunch? I walked to the halal cart on the street and got lamb over rice. It was pretty good.

noglider 10-27-15 03:10 PM

I'm a guy whose weakness is his strength. I like just about everyone I meet initially. Sometimes it takes me a long time to realize someone is a rear orifice.

I went to lunch with a couple of internet trolls because I wanted to give them fair chances. They turned out to be jerks in real life just as much as online.

No mention of Elvis Costello yet?

You're FIRED!

... meh...

I'm not a fan of the pops clicks and skips.

You take better care of your vinyl so much better than me? Congratulations.

I got out my turntable and vinyl last week. The ONE record I was really looking forward to queuing up- Houses Of The Holy- warped.

That **** just doesn't happen with cds.

Since getting an iPod- it just doesn't make sense to deal with flipping vinyl or burning CDs for the car. Portability trumps. So to speak.

Listening to music used to be an activity. Selecting a record, queuing it up, sitting down with the cover- reading the liner notes, looking at the artwork... It's not like that any more.

I'd rather listen to music than think about how cool it used to be back in the day.

As in "More Songs about Buildings and Food"?

i really, really, really, really like this lambchop song.

you are the very air he breathes

kurt wagner's stuff is usually beautifully melodic and heady, but that droning, noisy dichotomy turns me on. that's probably my favorite album by him ('i hope you're sitting down'), but here's another ('nixon' - full album):

Did that come off a John Deere?

My malfunctioning tablet dropped me down here, in this final page of an unknown thread. There was a bootleg live Fleetwood Mac album from one of the first Buckingham/Nicks tours. I had it on vinyl. Then, of course, there is any live Clapton performance, though I'm unaware of any complete albums since Derek and the Dominoes. Talking Heads I can take or leave. Can't say I've ever listened to Elvis C.

I am too. Very well written.
One would expect that though, from the greatest song writer of his generation, eh?

Bruce Thomas was a bad as bass player.

rootboy 10-29-15 10:18 AM

He certainly was. I only got to see the Attractions (and Imposters) after he had left.
I just read a passage in EC's autobiography last night where he said Bruce and Pete could play circles around any other rhythm section of the day. I tend to agree.

I've always preferred Elvis Costello's quirkier, jumpier stuff. The ballads kinda lose me by the end.
