And FWIW- Connery, Connery, Connery, and Craig ;).

if you like the blasters check out Jason and the Scorchers, Rank and File, and the Beatfarmers

I missed all of the bond talk. Connery and Moore are the same for me, but for different reasons. Connery IS James Bong, but Moore delivers the camp of the later bond movies so well, its an apples and oranges comparison.
George did a really good job in HMSS, and it is one of my favorites of the series.
Daniel Craig is an amazing Bond, but his role is different than all the others. Skyfall was arguably the best of them all.
Pierce tried filling the same shoes as Moore, and fell flat. Not entirely his fault.
Im not sure how Timothy Dalton ended up in there, but I can get behind The Living Daylights.

Music? Want to try something different?

How about a whiskey-fueled, hard driving, hill climbing, handlebar slappin', rocket monkey one man display of virtuosity?

Google Phillip Roebuck. Download "Somebody Take Me Home." Climb on yer bike and go find a big hill.

Thanks! I'll do that.

And to kind of fit in with the good movies and good music all in one, I would suggest Crazy Heart (2009) with Jeff Bridges. T Bone Burnett did, I think, all the music for it.

Ronsonic 10-26-15 12:12 PM

All of you are wrong about the movies. The Man Who Would Be King tops them all.

Aw you guys scared him away.

Little Feat. Waiting for Columbus
MY favorite live album. FWIW,
which aint much.

To declare something is "the Best", especially when it comes to music, is ridiculous. IMO.

GREAT album. One of my favorite other than the many Grateful Dead live recordings.

Yes, most of the movie was teenybop 80's rollerskating fad foolishness, but seeing her tap dance back then in that cute page girl outfit just got me all dizzy and in love.....just like a teenybopper!:D:p.....

Not as good as Teenage Bonnie and Klepto Clyde. Also inferior nudity.

The greatness of Zapped is entirely derived from Willie Aames. He is a national treasure.

I got out my old CD Player that I got like 25 years ago. It never really worked right- and it was not an inexpensive unit. So yesterday I opened the thing up for the first time in 20 years or so... trying to figure out what's going on with this thing.

BigChief 10-27-15 09:19 AM

I'll tell you what I liked about the Blasters and the many bands back in the 80s that swam against the tide. The agents didn't like bands that moved away from their "winning" format. They had catalogs full of bands, page after page of promo photos of four guys in spandex suits with eye makeup scowling at the camera like somebody just cussed out their grandmother. Above them, in exaggerated gothic script would be the name of the band. Usually some word that had nothing to do with music like Nexus, that type of thing. The shows were full of flashing lights, distorted guitar and painfully loud "thunder of the gods" drums and bass and screaming. If your show didn't fit this format, you were just not with it, uncool and nobody would like your music. Musicians, many of them, didn't like the idea of this conformity. All kinds of "alternative" music sprang up in the then thriving bar scene. Some people branded them as retro, but they didn't think of themselves that way. They might link to a tradition, but they viewed themselves as a continuation of that tradition. Those were good times for music. Much harder these days. Not nearly as many venues for live music now.

Wow, let's get this thread back on track. Another great Talking Heads live recording is "Live in Rome 1980" At the peak of their Belew period.

jeirvine 10-27-15 10:10 AM

And another great concert film by Jonathan Demme, (who did "Stop Making Sense"), is Storefront Hitchcock.
