Well, I finally replaced that rock-hard VO leather saddle on my Grandis with my favorite, inexpensive WTB. I also moved it forward about a centimeter to match the approximate reach of my other bikes. (FWIW, replicating the fit and weight balance between all of them isn't so easy because the frames and stems are all so different.)

Anyway, the more forgiving saddle makes the bike more rideable for long stretches and the different weight distribution (or something) transformed the handling to quick but nice instead of quick but demanding attention. I've taken it out recreationally a few times, ridden to work a few times. It still doesn't handle as nice as the Masi but it is sweet, and also lighter.

I find my Grandis (56cm ctt) handles more like my Pinarello or Colnago Super. Entertaining, but not one to select for a 5-6 hour ride.

The Berardi is not acknowledged by the seller as a Grandis, but it screams Grandis to me and they are close enough geographically to make it more than likely. Interestingly no other Berardi I have seen has the curved brake bridge and seat stay detailing. I'm pretty sure the Baldi is a Grandis too.

Mine feels very slack and flexy compared to my more modern 'racing' bikes, but it's a big'un, and old, around 1972. Very comfy for long rides.

Well, as I have never even seen either of those, let alone ride one, I have to take your word for it.

That is a nice looking bike too. To my eyes very 70's, and I suppose that also explains the handling difference.

Hi, Grandis owners and experts. I saw an add for Grandis frame with decent components and good frame size for me which is exactly the same like this https://www.steel-vintage.com/grandis...e-1980s-detail. On the seat stays is engraved little G, and on forks GRANDIS. Can you say which Columbus tubing is it, and what year? I saw somewhere else another Grandis from 80's, with the stick Columbus Gara tubing. So I wonder if there could be a match. I heard Gara is somewhat lower level than SL.

BTW, welcome to the forums! I don't know about the tubing, though.

Now a pair of Grandis

Added this rather lovely 1987 Grandis with chromed lugs: Full Chorus 1st Gen groupset incl Synchro 1 Levers (and yes they work well!).

Oh my! Very nice.

We finally have roads reasonably clear of snow and ice so I can ride to work tomorrow. With DST in effect I won't need the Bianchi's generator-driven lights. So I been trying to decide what bike to ride. You may have just made that choice for me.
