I put the seatpost in there so it made it exactly 1 stop. I believe it was originally from a Trek 600.

@gugie take a close look at the crankset before using it. Someone in the past converted from a double to a triple by drilling holes through the spider (is that the right term?). Anyway I decided not to use it because I was unsure if this was Standard Operating Procedure or not.

Thanks for the heads up. Bob Freeman used to do it all the time on Campy doubles at Elliot Bay Cycles. Last I heard he still does it. Not to worried about it.
