The eagle has landed. Pics tomorrow and, with an address (paging bikemig), the box will ship tomorrow.

bikemig 06-09-16 10:44 PM

Wow, a box of crap to play with. I may not be worthy of this. . . .

long john 06-11-16 06:24 AM

OK, I got delayed on the pics, but is it OK if my excuse was building a bike? :)

I realized that I neglected to take a "before" picture! I was chasing my cat around trying to get him interested in the box, but he was having none of it and it slipped my mind. However, I did manage to get a picture of my take:

The Ross catalog has been scanned and sent to Velobase. The Hite Rite will go on my Specialized Rock Combo (been wanting one of those for a long time), the dust covers are for some Tri-Color cranks, the skewer is going to a set of Campy hubs that needed a front skewer, the in-lines will go on my daughter's road bike and the Suntour FW will go on a Gitane for my daughter. The V-CC catalog went to my bedside table. :)

The box was shipped out yesterday to bikemig.

In between the time that you are building a frame, please add me back to the list, @gugie - this game just never gets old!

It's very cool to see stuff I put in the BOC many exchanges ago finally get claimed!

Fahrenheit531 06-11-16 11:02 AM

What is that "Hite Rite" thing? I assume that's the name of the odd bracket-with-attached-steel contraption...

You have the correct part. It was an old school MTB accessory that allowed the rider to quickly lower and raise the seat to the same height each time. The rider could lower the seat for downhill and raise it for uphill to transfer the center of gravity for better descending or climbing. The collar attaches to the seat post, and the eye goes on the clamp bolt. When you loosen the quick release, you sit down on the seat to lower it, or raise up to return to your normal setting.

Well big thanks for that little piece of knowledge, Pompiere. I was baffled by that thing when the BOC was here but couldn't ask without revealing unclaimed BOC contents so I had to wait, hoping someone would find it worthy of being pulled. You have made my morning.

That's why pix are required! :thumb:

I feel like a kid in a candystore; I can't wait until the eagle hits my doorstep with a thump.

long john 06-11-16 07:37 PM

Ohhhhh the in line breaks the flick stand oh the humanity.......

bikemig 06-15-16 08:13 AM

It's time for me to ship out the box of crap; it arrived 2 days ago. So I'll need the address for Seabass_First

The original seatpost dropper, IIRC. You'll have to start a thread after testing it out; let us know if it works in motion, on the trail :thumb:

You're assuming that I'm actually taking something from the box, ;)

long john 06-15-16 04:44 PM

Did u open the box and look?

gugie 06-16-16 09:51 PM

bikemig PM'ed me, Seabass_First has not responded to PM for two days, so I'm invoking the "lose 2 slots" rule.

Folks, this is getting a bit crappy. We've had a rash of disappearances. I'm getting a bit ticked off - the game is supposed to just run on it's own.

My suggestion: if you're next up, PM the next person in line for a shipping address before you get the BOC. Let me know if they don't respond within a few days, and I'll immediately move them down two slots. Go AWOL after the first no-response, and you're banished from the game. It's real simple - this game is for regular forum members, those that know how to use the PM feature, and have the common courtesy to communicate in a game that is voluntary, with written rules. No baby sitting here!

If you can't check in at least once a week to see where you are on the list, perhaps you shouldn't play?

Disappointing, yes, but much preferred to disappearing after receiving the box...

DD wasn't kidding when he said he was tired of herding cats.. the game when at it's best points does self maintain, but often it falls on the crapmaster to thrash and yell.

long john 06-17-16 05:24 PM

I have had a lot of hard knocks this last 3 months and box of crap was my focal point of distraction. I hope all involved will see the fun this joy of others crap that may be your jewels and help get this cool hamydowm venture back on the rails.

long john 06-18-16 11:32 AM

Box crap r.i.p.

noglider 06-18-16 05:05 PM

seabass_first last posted in March. He is probably not seeing his private messages. This is one reason it's good to have people's email addresses.

But I'm unclear: where is the BOC now?

smontanaro 06-18-16 06:32 PM

Me too. Does bikemig have it? Is he waiting for an address to send it to? Or has he shipped it out?

bikemig 06-18-16 06:58 PM
