I must have been very good this year.
I got Garmin heart rate and speed/cadence sensors, new pair of bike shorts, two new jerseys, a trainer and the Hello Kitty kit that I wanted so much. I'm a very happy kat!
@Bugstomper2000 I hope you survived those crazy tornadoes down there. I spent most of yesterday contacting friends and family to make sure everyone was okay.

Three bike touring/travel books, a pair of padded liner shorts, and a container of embrocation creme for my old knees :-)

Seems to be related to sites with a lot of sidebar ads that eats up graphics driver/card capacities....

I was sort of nice. I waited out an ebay purchase, Fed Ex dmg, refund, Fed Ex partial denial, partial refund, return, etc.
None of which involved me. So, I was there to pick up the project back at the previous square one. I added a bit.
OEM, it was not impressive to me. It was heavy for the price, and had a cheap crankset and wheels.
I did a little swapping, and a lot of cleaning.
It is 2.01 lbs (12%) lighter than OEM, still not 1/3 the OEM price.
Will make a good flip if I decide to do so, but also a pretty good rider when I go with the guys.

On my wish list notes, I wrote that most of my Allen wrenches were the kind you get for free when you buy a piece of Ikea furniture. That did the trick.

I've got the 8mm Mauser from the other side....and the .308 from when we used those for our "long range" shooting... would be neat to compare the M1, which we had to fire while at Marine Barracks Annapolis, because at the time, even ceremonial weapons were required to be cleaned, fired, and qualified with. Which had us scraping off our knee skin with the "older" M1 and the M14 at the range, given the blacktop firing lines...

You ever get up to the DC area? It'd be great to combine a bike/range weekend.

I did a little swapping, and the photo does not show the latest swap, a DA7800 crankset for that FSA.
The SL-K was a little overkill for the bike, and yes, I'll add new wrap when it arrives in today's mail.
Still, a little part bin replacements, wheelset change, and it's 12% lighter than OEM, still not 1/3 the price.

1985 Schwinn Voyageur
Santa brought me a nearly unridden Schwinn Voyageur! There's zero wear on the tires, the chain has never changed gears in the rear, there's little if any rim or brake wear, etc. Someone, however, did shift the crank gears at least once and added a handlebar mirror. Odd. Maybe a dealer showroom bike?
Now, I kind wish it had been ridden because however it was stored, it didn't get any care. It has scuffs and scratches aplenty, the vinyl seat cover on the Avocet has shrunk and become unglued on the sides (now, if this were a Voyageur SP, it'd have gotten a leather Avocet), and the gum brake lever covers have evaporated. A well cared for ridden bike might have been in better shape. And where are the pedals?
It is a beautiful dark British racing green (the only color available this year). From the scratches, I can see that the rear triangle and entire front fork are chrome under paint. I don't think the main tubes are.
I removed the unusual lawyer tab on the front wheel. There's little paper warning stickers on the front hub about using the quick release and on the downtube about riding in the rain. I'm almost glad this isn't an SP, I won't feel bad about removing them!
If anyone has a pair of SR SP-11 pedals, please let me know.

Spent 3 days in South Lake tahoe with my daughter and BFF. We got 2 really good days of snowboarding in and taught my daughter about apres' ski parties. There wern't too many presents for the adults but spending a white Christmas with my two favorite people on the planet was the best gift I could have gotten.
And I got a Darth Vader t-shirt!

I love them too, they're really cool, and it makes sense that you went there, it's right down the road from UTD! Yesterday I installed cables all around that I got from them, and they let me try on shoes I wasn't buying. They were completely fine with letting me try on shoes that I was going to buy online. What are your thoughts on the Waterview hill?

Given the opportunity I would take the cold weather any day over the tornado.....but that is just me .

We went to Mitsuwa in Edgewater, NJ today for pre-New Year's food. No. 2 son and I each had a large Shio-Chashu Ramen, wifey had some Chicken Kara-age and a couple of Onigiri rice balls. I threw some kara-age into the ramen after devouring all the pork. A ginormous stomach bomb, it was the only meal I had today.

Best gift was one son stopping in from D.C. and the other one home from UMich.
Bike-related gifts Santa/me put under the tree were a pair of Cont GP4000SII/28mm tires (haven't ridden them yet, but 30.5mm+ on HED Belgium C2 rims, nice & puffy), and some gel bar wrap. Mostly just to even out the present count. Main gift was an Office Depot 9000-series desk chair, a lower-cost Herman Aeron rip-off. My tush likes the mesh. Sheesh...

my sister got me a nearly complete Dura Ace AX groupset including the stem. All that was missing was the front wheel and handlebar. The rear wheel is laced to a nice Mavic Clincher rim. I'll post images later today.

Either Santa is very good at finding NOS, or extremely lucky. That thing just says "ride."
