Bridgestone-Kabuki advice
I'm looking to buy a road bike, and wanted to see if this price off craigslist seems reasonable.
"Men's Bridgestone Kabuki - $125
Syd. Taller model, not sure the inches. (I'm six feet) Blue, new derailer, great condition. Fairly new tires and a good seat. "
I guess it must be from the 70s given that the Bridgestone was selling it under the Kabuki brand. Assuming that it really is in great condition, and the new derailer is decent, is this a reasonable price? I know the bike will be heavy, but I couldn't find the "Syd. Taller" model anywhere online. Maybe it's a submariner but I'm not sure. I read the information on the Sheldon Brown site, but still couldn't figure it out. Anyway, any advice would be welcome. Thanks...

I remember Kabukis. When I was a teen there was a shop in the neighborhood that sold them and several of my friends had them... and my girlfriend had a mixte. They had a range of models, like most companies. One showed up at the bike library I volunteer at this past summer and it was a very low-end model. $125 is not terribly expensive, but in order to make a proper call on the matter, I'd need more info on components, etc. Make sure it is a good fit. Kabukis came in a 25" model, which is probably too big for you. Also, I know I'm not too bright, but what does "Syd Taller" mean?

I've never heard of that particular Kabuki line, but I used to have one that had neither a quick-release nor
a binder-bolt seat tube, but it was a quill system like older stems. The saddle was rather annoying to adjust.
I personally think $125 is a fair asking price for a vintage 'lightweight'. I would snatch it up if the seller would
strike a deal with you (offer him $100). If it's 'ready to roll', hop on it!
