Any idea what the mystery "F" lever is?

Some old french brakes...

NOS french chain
I have seen pairs of brake levers that had the "F" on one and "R" on the other, I assumed Front and Rear.

I have a twist shifter exactly like yours that works with Shimano 3 speed hub.

You can see that the brown stem was formerly black anodized. Sunlight exposure changed the color.

Dove into another bike today... After running the numbers and whatnot, this is a 1978 Raleigh Grand Prix made in Canada. Nothing too special aside from some Sugino VP cranks, XT pedals, and Belleri handlebars. Wheels were switched out with Schwinn approved models at some point. The original Swiss Pletscher rack and kickstand are still there, "made by Switzerland". I pumped up the tires and rode it around a little, not a bad bike. Hopefully I can find a college student or something around here that needs a commuter.

Good call... I found out that it's a specialized MTB-3 stem that used to be black.

The mystery of the day... (24"?) Hercules children's bike. Judging from the lone cable, this was still a 3spd. I really hope I can find some more parts for this one as I rarely see this style of kids bike.

More bikes sorted today... but today makred my first completed bike for the personal collection. This is my girlfriend's new old Raleigh Sport. I had to pilfer the chainguard and fenders from an Armstrong bike and the bag was on the back of a Hercules. The brooks saddle was stolen from another bike and the Hawthorne headlight was in a box of parts. I like it and it rides just as it should.

Bikes: More than I care to admit

Awesome thread! You have found the best home for this post - many a C/Ver's dream! The parts stash may well be worth more than the bikes!

I think of this less as a strip tease and more as a daily serial. Love it!

The wheels on that, if 24" is correct, were probably marked Dunlop, 24x1 3/8. If you can't find the correct wheels, you may be able to fit 26" wheels --the mountain bike size rim, but with skinny tires. Assuming you find the fork, that is. Good luck with that!

700c or even a 29" rigid fork, layback seatpost, instant chopper...

OK, some questions...

Here is the "franken-raleigh", serial number puts it between '63 and '67. What were these tabs for? Cable guides? The one on the chainstay doesn't seem to fit with any of the sturmey-archer bikes I have here. Cool parts on this one though, Perry B-100 rear hub and a sugino super custom crankset for no particular reason. No idea what the fork is from though.

Don't believe this is a Raleigh frame. Does it have a headbadge? Those braze ones are for cables.

Also, here is the info on the Milano Sport that I can't find any info about. Does anyone know anything about this?

Says "made in italy" no reference to tubing or anything
Balilla brakes seem to point to bottom-end 70's bike
simplex rear der
suntour spire front der
maillard wheelset with mavic rims

serial number on seat tube #63726

It does have a Raleigh headbadge... you can see it on the right in this pic.

I have a clue... those are Bocama lugs on the head tube... and we have cable guides... so it's a drop-bar road bike.

I'm pretty sure that this is a 531 tubing Raleigh Super Course from the late 70's. Bocama lugs match and the cable guides match.

Mystery Raleigh #2.... this frameset has cable routing on the chainstay for a rear derailleur, nothing on the top tube, and braze-on pump pegs... scanning the catalogs trying to find this one as well... different lugs than the red one.

The chainstay braze-on isn't quite right. Fork Crown?

Looks nice what ever it turns out to be

edit...Red Raleigh, not Mystery #2

I noticed that... but then I had to quit looking. I couldn't find ANY Raleigh with a matching chainstay braze-on. It's definitely something in the competition/professional/super course family. They are all 531 bikes with similar geometry, and the lugs used puts it at late 70's. It'll make a nice road cruiser.

Black mystery Raleigh appears to be a Sport 10 from around '71... Cool bike

Cool light mount on the right fork. Does it have a braze-on for a generator?

That would make a pretty cool road bike built up.

Red Raleigh is definitely not a Super Course, not with those rear dropouts. Lugs match sixties Grand Prix models.
