repair advice and identification
In the past I have some times found it hard to get advice on repairing and replacing parts on old steel frames and identifying when, where and by who it was built. So I thought I would make a thread to help others out.

Front end crash damage it looks like, unless you are a skilled frame builder this one isn't something to repair and ride. If you want to learn frame repair and frame building skills its, a likely practice piece for you, you could look at some of the frame building schools around the country perhaps. Interesting looking frame though, nothing exotic but some unusual points on it. One of the members here with some knowledge about doing frame repairs should be along shortly.

Depending on whether you have a shop in your area that would do the fix...
I've seen work done by Andy at Yellow Jersey in Madison WI. His prices are reasonable, but shipping might be a deal breaker.
Check out his work at: Bicycle Frame Repair at Yellow Jersey
No affiliation with them, other than I went into the shop once, and another time Andrew helped me with a shifting problem over email. I'm considering having a frame redone there.
