Charge Spoon or Knife (a thinner race version of the Spoon, shown in the picture below) are a good value. I need to try a Spoon again--it's been a while. Sexy shape, either of them, and I like the tail kick for the support when pedaling harder. Prices for the Spoon are quite nice (less than $40 easy).

Some people commented that the header paint (and probably BBQ paint) ends up getting baked in use (hey, i think that's happened to me! getting baked in use.....)
ANYWAY, since a bike frame does not normally get baked in use, I think you would have to figure out how to bake those paints. I've opted for the PRO Rusteloum.

To the OP ~ I rattled canned a flat black a few years ago, left the tiny bits of shiny that I could. I sold the frame & fork as they were too small for me and my son got to big for the bike!
I'm experimenting right now with spay painting over a powder coat. I dunno.... we'll see.

Here's a few snap shots of the one from a few years ago. It had been brush painted yellow. Really bad.

This is almost finished minus the white handlebar tape that will get put on tomorrow. I ended up spending way too much on a new saddle. Wish I could upload larger pictures.

Looking good. What saddle did you get? I understand not wanting to spend more than one plans to, but in this case, it is a Circuit, just behind the Paramount and new-for-'87 Prologue, with a tubeset combo that mimics the previously #2 (1984-86) Peloton. Not bad. It's worth it.
