Swung by today and saw a couple of interesting things. There was a Columbus-framed Bianchi Stelvio converted to upright bar city bike.
Attachment 602979

Very basic Takara mixte.
Attachment 602980

Schwinn Impact in large frame size.
Attachment 602982

Raleigh Citylight bike in absolutely pristine condition, with sparkly paint and perfect chrome. This thing must have been parked indoors for the last thirty years.

1977 +/- Carabelas Professional. All Dura Ace first generation plus Columbus tubing. Paid real money on this one. But the black G1 bits will look pretty sweet on my black and chrome 1975 Sekai Professional.

Oh a few changes over at the coop, the as-is yard is now closed and is currently storage. Dang! I got my most fun purchases out of there. And now what I do like, the warehouse is now open on Wednesdays.

On a little bit more of a bummer note I felt obligated to hand out some good cheer. While I was there a local lad and younger brother were thwarted at there attemp of bicycle reapropriation. Oh my gosh these little guys must have been like 12 and under. Come on man!?

Co-op Find - 1973 Grand Sports

Listed on CL, had this one delivered from Newark DE coop from a holiday traveler. Looks to be mostly original with the usual switch to Suntour RD and Barcons. Curious about those brake levers as they were not supposed to be original but this is not the first '73 Grand Sports I have seen with the turkey levers. Hoping for a nice clean up.

That's a nice find. Is the saddle Brooks or Fujita?

thumpism 04-02-18 04:27 PM

Brake levers could have had the gum (white) hoods removed and safety levers added. We did this to lots of bikes, many more than the other way around.

Sadly the Brooks is gone.

Went by the Joe-op again to check for new treasures and found a couple of interesting things, but nothing I need or in my size.

Peugeot UO-10, it looks like.
Attachment 606307

Raleigh Sprite.
Attachment 606308

Haro Alpha hybrid. I've seen lots of their MTBs but don't recall a Haro hybrid.

Man, if you traded straight across for the Giordana, that is a heckuva trade. The Ross is lovely as always, but that Spica is gorgeous.

its an 87 tempo ithink. it was blue under the red paint. they left the seat tube white.

rjhammett 04-08-18 07:33 AM

I did make the trade straight up however the Giordana was pretty rough and the Ross was overhauled and ready to go. They wanted a bike in the smaller size and one they could sell without any work. The Giordana had a trash seat, mismatched wheelset, trash bar tape, needed new cables and needed to be cleaned, touched up and overhauled. They didn't want to put in the time to get it to the condition where they could sell it. It turned out really well though. We both came out ahead.

Found these two today, a Raleigh Technium Instinct that looks new...

...and an early Cannondale touring minus wheels (24" c-to-c, 42" WB, 17.5" chainstays). May need to give this one a closer look.

ryansu,

This is the Portage at Bike Works, right? And I saw another mention of BW by you in another thread. RiddleOfSteel, tricky and I are volunteers there. Stop by the Warehouse on a Tuesday or Thursday evening, 6:30-9:30, to meet in person.

Yes it is at Bikeworks. Thanks for the invite Dfrost, week nights during the school year are pretty packed but that is going to change in a little over a month. Might have to hit Geraldine's and bike works on the way home some night this summer.

thumpism 07-01-18 01:53 PM

First visit in several weeks but I found a few items of interest. First is a Huffy, unremarkable as a bike except it's probably the best quality production Huffy I've ever seen; lugged steel frame, three-piece crank, seriously nothing special but like nothing I've seen from a Huffy factory. I suspect it's a re-badged Asian bike.

One for the Bianchi lovers, this one a Special minus the wheels and some bits. In my experience, incomplete machines go really cheap here so if you see something you like it might well be worth your trouble to inquire. I can do some legwork if you need it.
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...2f72f394e1.jpg

Schwinn Cross-Fit. Hi-ten frame so nothing to get excited about.
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...ac5683fe09.jpg

Okay, Miyata time. First is a Six Ten frameset and some parts. Cosmetically awful, but probably worth saving. Dent in seat tube above the front derailleur but if I wanted one in that size I'd grab it.
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...9198fdf6a2.jpg

Next comes a complete tall Miyata Seven Ten.
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...1e5c4a14c2.jpg

Last is a mystery machine. Thick white paint slathered over what was originally an emerald green frame, from the looks of things. Shimano 600 headset, semi-sloping fork crown, braze-ons and sporting geometry, short dropouts and single eyelets front and rear. I'm thinking Panasonic or the like.

thumpism 07-29-18 06:53 PM

I saw this old Schwinn previously but ignored it until today when I saw the old AS headbadge. Looking closer I found it was an O-L-D Continental with the old graphics and a Simplex rod-type front derailleur. This thing is probably 1960 vintage, if not older. I'm not really interested in it but if there are any Connie freaks out there it would be a shame to let this one get away.

Stopped by a New place in Portland today. Daughters boyfriend is interested in finding something to commute to work with and sent him a photo of this Univega. Next to it is a Raleigh International.

You know it's a complete set when there's even the Campy Silca pump head!

thumpism 09-04-18 07:12 PM

The local co-op moved and I went to the new location. A step down from the previous place and I hope they survive. There's a dumpster out back with detritus from the move. I may have to go diving.
