Just got home and sold many items including a Schwinn bike shop bearing/parts storage case cabinet. Kind of in Rat Rod condition and also a 1973 Paramount close coupled tandem. The new owners seemed to be happy with what they bought. Also sold many other parts including a bunch of used leather saddles. Saw a few old friends and made some new ones. All in all a good day. But nowhere near the class of the others mentioned here. And really not a bike swap anymore.

Just got back as well. Wow, great show! I bought a bunch of Campy stuff, some nice buttery smoot Galli pedals, and Cinelli bars and stem. Pretty happy. I will certainly go next year.

It was fun! I got some loot. I had some terrible hot dogs. I got great deals on some brand new tubular`s. So many cool things I wish I could buy it all. Not much in the way of complete cool C&V bikes but there were a few. lots of old parts to pic through. My modest budget loot...

Met some of the nice folks from this forum, sold a little, didn't buy a thing. Not that I didn't want to buy anything, but I've been busy buying bikes and parts for the last few months and thought it was time to give that a rest - running out of room!

Do you go through a lot of sew-ups, or just stashing away a few for the future?
....and if you are stashing, do you have a few old rims for storage & stretching?
I was a bit on the fence about going to the swap meet. There's nothing I need or want (although there's a Bruce Gordon frame on ebay that fits me....), and was happy to get in a 25 mile ride today. Living vicariously through these sorts of reports from the swap meet is enough for me.

Tan sidewalls are nice.. I've got black Conti Sprinters on my Olmo, and I haven't warmed up to the look of them yet.

bought an old minaura rack ( think blackburn ) because it mounted on the fender bolt $5. got a blackburn bottle cage for $2. a nashbar/cannondale front pannier for free and a few other nice odds and ends. of course i drove 350 miles round trip and spent money to park but it was real fun anyway. saw folks from normal and peoria illinois. the prices seemed pretty reasonable to me. there was a paramount tandem in the bike corral for 450.00 or best offer. if i had the money i would have bought it in a second.

That tall trike was a hoot!
I had a pretty good time pawing through bike parts and chatting with BFers iab, Steve Whitlatch, bargainguy, and jjhabbs. I noticed that Lon Haldeman had a booth (does he usually?), but I was too in awe to say hi and introduce myself. My friend Rob's "Fatquinox" had a prime spot for display and a snazzy new paint job.
Hardly anything said "take me home" this year. I was keeping an eye out for Centurion Ironman frames and SPD boots, but didn't see any of the former in my size, or of the latter at a reasonable price. Only ended up buying a set of used 50/34 chainrings for $10. Oh well, actually buying bike parts is about #3 or #4 on the list of why I go to the swap meet each year.

I was with Lon and he will always take the time to talk to anyone. If anything he is a bit shy when not talking bikes. We plan on doing Madison again next year. The Paramount tandem was Lons and it sold for less than the $450. Roger

I saw a nice 52cm Lemond Zurich for $400. If the seller is on here and did not sell it, let me know. I may still be interested.

So, I still had some cash left, but not for the likes of the bike above. There was a cash machine, but it was out of order! Unfortunately my time was limited, so that precluded me from going out and coming black.

if that tandem was lon haldeman's then it had to be the buy of the show. man i wish i would have made more effort on that. however, i did buy a brand new north st route 6 pannier for 20.00. it looked great and i was unfamilier with the brand. now that i have come home and researched it i am quite impressed. i may even spring for a full priced one eventually to make the pair.

I am so kicking myself! I took the day off to go when I first heard about it as I was scheduled to work that day. But I talked myself out of going saying I would drive nine hours right after a winter storm for a few minutes of enjoyment. I sat around here with nothing to do all day. Hindsight take FRIDAY off too and plan on staying two nights. It could have been a once in a lifetime experience for me.
Peoria huh? How far did some travel I wonder?
