Peoria huh? How far did some travel I wonder?
I am in Dubuque, so only an hour and a half for me. Plus I hit the Apple Store, which they don't have in Dubuque, so it is not ever a hard decision to get up to Madison. I actually had planned to go the night before and take the wife, but my daughter had a school thing, so nixed that idea.

52telecaster it was Lon's bike but not one he ever raced or rode. He still has another one that he bought new when he worked in a Schwinn shop and gave to his mom and dad. That one is a smaller rear frame and his parents used it for touring in the mid west. I believe that one was a 1976. Roger

It was a decent show..Not many good Steel vintage bicycles or frames in my size.

Steve in sunny Peoria (where the temperature got up to a sweaty 17F!)
Hi two Steve's-

You know I dig tubulars but please use those Vulcano's before they self disintegrate. Have had fresh stock Vulcano's deteriorate within 8 months, stored room temp, folded in its original baggy package.

Missed going but the once in a lifetime (hopefully thats all) happened that very day at home. (save for offline chat at one of our meet and rides).

Stay safe all!

Curious of the tandem and would like to see pics. Also, from what I've been told by a few, Lon and Susan lost significant bike related in the fire from years back.

I have a feeling my set of Vulcano`s is already over 8 months old. Only paid $5 each. Never glued or mounted and not in their packaging at purchase. They seem to be ok as they are stretching on my rims. Should I just throw them away now? LOL

The tandem was not one of their race bikes. Standard 1970s (July 1973) Paramount tandem in the large size. I think all of those Paramount tandems were built as what is called close coupled or rear curved seat post configuration. The fire was in February 2009 and yes they did loose about 10 significant/historical bikes including Lons Raleigh built carbon fiber tandem. There were 2 built in 1985 and he and Pete used the 2 bikes in a Trans America crossing. The aluminum lugs were about all that was left. We did save some of the bikes and luckly many bikes were in their other garage. In those days he and Susan mostly raced Burley tandems. Roger
