Gitane Frame Identication

This looks like it may be the Allure model, perhaps somewhere ca. 1980-82. The Huret/Sachs-Huret gear ensemble components should be marked with a four digit number indicating their date of manufacture. The first two characters indicate the week of the year and the final two characters indicate the year. In cases where number is two digits that is the year. This date marking system began in 1978.

Those lugless Gitane frames came out in the early 80s. The graphic style of the decals and Huret Challenger Eco derailleur are also consistent with early 80s manufacture.

From the catalogues I have examined this model looked to be coming through with an alloy cotterless chainset by ~1983-84. Disclaimer: am no Roma Girl expert.

In any event, the date codes on the mechs should reveal all as to calendric reference....
