Adjustable front to back 28.6 seat post
Looking for an adjustable seat post for a Super Sport Schwinn. I saw an interesting looking post on an older ebay Paramount that looks like it would allow moving the seat further back than I can get it just by sliding it on the rails or flipping the clamping mechanism. Looked like 3 mounting holes front to back with what looks like a through bolt. Trying to get the seat back far enough to get my sit bones off the internal metal frame work of the seat. Any idea of such a post in 28.6mm?

Did you mean 26.8mm? That’s a much more likely size for an older Schwinn, and quite a few other bikes of that era, such as most Miyatas and lots more.
The seatpost you’re seeing on that Paramount is a classic two-bolt Campagnolo. Expensive, somewhat rare, highly sought by many around here, and hard to use without the special Campagnolo wrench.
I found this really long setback Truvativ-brand 26.8mm seatpost for my Miyata 912 at the local used bike parts emporium. Note: the Truvativ shaft was black, but I just finished polishing the visible portion.

And there’s this UNO model in 26.8mm that’s not quite as long in setback, and has notches for the saddle angle adjustment, so doesn’t allow quite as fine adjustments. Here’s a photo of it, which I’m no longer using. If it interests you send me a PM and we’ll work something out.

I don't know what that had but the most popular and adjustable seatpost in that size is the SR MTE-100. The was a guy back east on FB that bought a warehouse last year and had a hundred or so NOS so I picked up a couple to have. Put one on my Tourer for versatility and weight is not a concern. He wanted to sell me in bulk but I am not a reseller so I passed. I may have his info if you would like I can look for. Quite reasonably priced even even for one

Use one of these with a shim to get to 28.6. This post was only available in 26.8, as far as I know. I had a machinist turn one down to 25.4 to fit the stoker position on our old tandem.

Bikes: they change so much I'm tired of updating this
I have an add on adjustable clamp that fits on your existing post that allows a seat to slide back a few more inches.

Thanks for the replies. So the campy really isn't as adjustable as I thought. Looks like a pain to tighten those rail clamp bolts down as well. No matter, and yes; I did mean 28.6, as those old super sports used a thicker chrome moly tube, unlike the mild steel Continentals and such with the thinner tubing. Looks like a shim will get me able to use a thinner post. Appreciate the offers; will consider my options. That Yellowjersey site / SR Sakae post says it's 's all sold out but good to know something like it has been sold.

The Campy post is a bear to adjust since the bolts are on top and frequently blocked by parts of a saddle. the official wrench is a double-offset 10mm.
