Wasn't sure whether to post here or the MTB section but figured I'd start here.
Was going to buy a bike on ebay when this popped up on the local craigslist. Went to go take a look and brought it home with me because titanium, lol. It's a late 90's (99?) Mongoose Pro DX 10.7(?).
USA-made Titanium frame, Rockshox Judy XC fork, Deore LX drivetrain (XT RD) and hubs, Avid linear brakes Titec stem and seatpost with a Selle Italia Ti Flite. There's no stickers but you can see the outline of some of the old stickers on there.
From what I can glean from the interwebs, the frame was commissioned by Mongoose from Titanium Sports Technologies (TST) with tubing from Sandvik. TST does not appear to be a frame manufacturer per se but is/was known for being able to do industrial level manufacturing of Ti products and also made Ti frames for other marques as well like Dean.
Anybody else know anything else to add to the story?
In any case, the bike will probably end up more as an adventure/bikepacking bike than full MTB. The Deore LX drivetrain is smoooth except for chainsuck between the small-mid chainrings that I have to figure out. Also, the front skewer is also seized in the front wheel so the front wheel can't be taken out at the moment. Not sure if its the weight but this rides like a much smaller bike; from the geometry alone it is on the large end of what I can ride but very nimble.
