1987 Serotta Colorado

Quarantine has lead me to pulling my old Colorado frame down out of the rafters and contemplating putting it back together. The (period-correct) options I have include:
  • Campy Chorus...what I originally put on it new...which is probably why I did not ride it much because my other racer at the time was a 3Rensho w/DA. Oddly, the 3Rensho never made it to the rafters.
  • DA...already have one of those...don't need another.
  • I have a nearly perfect Shimano Sante' group off of a Bridgestone RADAC that has lived its entire life on a trainer of a dentist (yes, it is true). Everything is original except the pedals and the bar tape (he put aero-bar extensions on). I bought the bike 10 years ago for the components (it is too big for me), and maybe it is time to strip it and put it on this.
Any input would be appreciated.

Vote for Campy Chorus. C-Rec if you have deep pockets.

I like Sante as a bit of an oddity, but I think a Serotta deserves something a bit more special.

Bikes: Colnago Brain, Master Bi-Titanio, Vitus 979, Specialized Roubaix, Salsa Marrakesh, and a couple of Treks

I hearing you’re reusing parts, so yes the Chorus over the Sante’.

Just for kicks-and-giggles is a Restomod out of the question? A Restromod Serotta with SRAM would be complementary to a 3Rensho with Shimano. IMHO, early Chorus slant parallelogram lacked elegance with Campagnolo playing catch-up. But, maybe a Suntour Superbe would be vintage style (like 1984 Alexi Grewal’s ride). While, the 7Eleven Huffy (Serotta) spec’ed DA.

happy wrenching

I'm not in any way a Shimano fan but if you're going to buy again 6500 Ultegra with Open Pros/Ultegra seems about as right for that bike as any.
