Need help identifying "old?" Bianchi
I hate to start a new thread, but....
I posted in the other thread, but it has gotten pushed down too far
Ok. Lets not start a new thread when all the experts are here. In fact it's pretty much a family tradition by now.
Traded for one of my precious Suntour Ultra-6 freewheels:
One Bianchi frame, repainted Celeste, but appears to have always been Celeste after peeking inside.
Serial number on headtube 4B xxxxx
Long Campagnolo dropouts, with a cast notch on the rear of the NDS dropout. Never seen that on any bike.
wierd notch, plus divers helmet in background with 4,5mm I.D.
No braze ons AT ALL besides divers helmet.
Bianchi styled headset, not built in but "rounded".
Faux integrated headset
Fork seems original, but crappy brazing on chromed faux Campagnolo dropouts
Seatpost 26.2mm
I would like help to figure out what year / era to repaint and finish this build. I have a set of Campagnolo 3 bolt Sport cranks that would look great, along with chrome steel Valentino (?) derailleurs if this is early. I have smooth 5 bolt Campagnolo if its late Bianchi.

Any marks on the headset?
I don't know Bianchi's, kind of a black hole to me but this frame does not look like high-end model.

None. Not a peep. But I haven't taken it apart.
When picking it up, it also doesn't "feel" like a high-end model. Which ironically makes it the perfect candidate for Campagnolo 3 arm "Sport" cranks and chromed steel derailleurs.

The most Bianchi thing is that is seems to be the "Celeste" paint inside*. Obviously repainted and ebay sticker on the headtube are inadmissible evidence.
*many clues may be found by removing the fork. I'll do that tomorrow.

Other than the color(s) and head badge sticker, what makes us think this is a Bianchi?

I would say the location and font of the serial number looks like some Bianchis. The fork crown is reminiscent of a Bianchi, but it doesn't match my other Bianchis, for what its worth.

They had a distinctive cast seat lug, that included those bullet shaped stay ends as part of the seat tube top lug.

Exactly. For the record, I was the person that gave to frame set to Reynolds 531 . The seat stay caps are very similar to both my '54 and '64 Bianchis. This frame was part of a husband/wife combo which included my '64 Bianchi, which was a second of the line "Team Issue," which was second only to the 999 serial Reparto Corse bikes of that era.
It's definitely a Bianchi... What year and where in the pecking order is another question entirely.... Cool bike, regardless!
