Pastor Bob is much too modest to post pictures of Sporty, his much modified Schwinn Super Sport. But, I'm not.

People do stuff like that all the time. This bike started life as a '92 Forza with a Tange Infinity frame and mix of Exage 400EX/500EX parts.
A home paint job, some ugly huge decals, carbon fork, and 10 speed 105 group you have something that looks, to me anyway, hideous. I'm actually surprised it doesn't have a Columbus decal, but I guess that didn't come with those ugly decals.

I wonder what handlebars those are. They would surely kill my back.
It's an interesting build. I did something kind of similar. I had a Surly Cross Check. I put on super light racing wheels on it. The frameset is heavy and not particularly responsive, but the light wheels made the aggregate result into something that felt moderate.
This is more of a work of art, and it says something, though I'm not sure what. There may be a big story behind it.

Reminds me of this one recently posted for sale on FB Maretplace. I contacted the seller and learned that this was not an actual photo of the bike for sale but rather one he found with a quick google search. He insisted his looked exactly the same.

A Super Sport can also be outfitted with a 110bcd crank spider and rings. Even with the Ashtabula crank, it weighs in at 1# more than a three piece conversion and has all the durability of the one piece crank. One of mine is like that and running a 34-46 set of chainrings.

For the same reason I set up my 1981 Miyata 610 (pre-canti brakes) as a near full Suntour Superbe Pro bike with a set of NOS American Classic hubs.
It's undergoing another transformation as I write this; getting a Cyclone group, front and rear Jim Blackburn racks, SP dynamo hub, and an Edelux II which cost 9x what I bought the frame for. That bike has always proven to just be the right one for me, so it's getting a light touring makeover.
Why? Just because I can.

Schwinn used a lot of french parts on their bikes so I took it a step further with Mafac brakes and Stronglight cranks. Went with sew-ups in Mavic SSC rims and Campy hubs. And a classic Campy Record derailleur. The geometry on the Super Sport fits me just right.

Throwing old Campy on an old Schwinn seems normal to me. I'll admit lowering the rear bridge and shortening the fork to mate up 700 wheels and short reach brakes on an old Schwinn might be going too far...
