Here's my brand new to me 1996 Mongoose IBOC Zero-G SX. It's a mix of Deore LX/XT/XTR components. The original Rock Shox Judy XC fork doesn't really work though. I'll be replacing the fork once I get the $115 for a new one, because I don't feel like dealing with used suspension forks.
It supposedly went for $1100+ originally. The guy I bought it from bought it brand new to ride around the neighborhood with his daughter.

Ross! I am LOVING this frame. Thanks wrk101!! The mockup has begun.,,,,BD
Not sure if it's a Hood or Whitney with these awesome roller cams! Doesn't matter. Chrome is the stuff! I need to get some Krud Kutter, or oxalic acid on the handlebars. mostly in the quill and brake hanger area. The rest looks okay.

That's the only post I had. I have since ordered a new Kalloy. It will get the B67, if the saddle is low enough after the build. It promises to be comfy and predictable.,,,,BD
Red label Araya's, with Suzue Black label hubs. Rear is bolt on, front is QR. It's under construction, so please forgive the greasy hand prints dulling the chrome. All in good time!

Are you talking about the $10 NOS ones on ebay? If so, I got one too. Put it on my Raleigh. Just need a new chain and cables so I can put my rear brake back on now...

Focus bike touring 1980,s picked up last summer
I have been looking for a good vintage MTB on the local CL, and I just found one and picked it up last week: A Focus MB-400. Here are pics as I got it from the seller. Seems like a pretty nice model but I can't find much (if any) information about the "Focus" brand from this era (mid 1980's?). Made in Japan, lugged frame, Tange MTB tubing, Suntour Mountech derailleurs, Suntour thumb shifters and stem, Dia Compe levers and brakes, Nitto bars.
So far I've only had the chance to ride it for about 10 minutes but it was fun and surprisingly zippy. The bike has double eyelets at the front and rear dropouts, plus fender bosses at the seatstay and chainstay bridges, so will be easy to outfit with fenders and racks for commuting.
I did a little research and found that the Suntour Mountech RD is prone to failure, so I already got a nice vintage Deore RD from a friend as a replacement. The Mountech will make a nice display piece, it seems barely used.
I'm thinking of riding it as-is for awhile, but I'm tempted to go for a drop bar conversion. What do you guys think??

Cool find! How does it ride? I"m very happy with mine, it is even fun to ride with a full commuting load of laptop, lunch, clothes, and other stuff. This seems to be a rare brand, there is really not much information to be found about it. As I'm sure you have figured out!

I just posted in the Rides thread earlier. I picked up this 1996 Marin Eldridge Grade the other week. I really didn't have to do much to it. It was in very clean shape but the original Ritchey saddle was warped and the tires had some dry rot. All tossed and replaced. Rides very nicely and fills the missing mountain bike void I've had since selling my 90s Balance XR450. I specifically wanted no suspension on my bike.

I like that Marin, what cranks are those? Actually, can't make out the parts except the LX rear derailleur, what do you have going on there. Looks like a nicely equipped bike. No idea where the Eldridge Grade was in Marin's lineup.

I had to ditch the saddle. It still had the original tires on it too but they needed changing. I think the guy just left it storage.
The seller wanted $225 and he let it go for a bit less than half of that. It's pretty fun to ride.

Big Ross, coming along. Maybe a next weekend ride, if the seatpost comes in. I will get cables and a chain on Saturday, if it does. I will dig out some crank caps, I think I have some chromed metal caps that go with this crank? Mountech in front for now, since I don't have an XC Sport front at the moment. Trying for close to stock, with a little bit older look. Suzue hubs with red label Araya atb rims.,,,,BD

This is my Fuji Discovery-- I forget what year it is, but I bought it at a Sports Authority sometime between 1993 and 1996. Anyone know anything about Fuji's? I've been looking for information on this bike on-line, but haven't found anything yet. It doesn't have the greatest components on it, but they work OK and the frame seems decent-- 4130 CroMo. I've been thinking about some upgrades for it.
