Robbie I bet they are 700's My 7/11 Ironman has Mavic 4 c's with arrow spokes. I do not know if they are original. Looks like original whitewall tires and not much scratching on the rims from the brakes.

Ed The Craigslist LeMans would have orignally been 700C Araya rims. |

OEM rims for the 1987 Ironman Expert were Wolber Alpines.
The Craigslist LeMans would have orignally been 700C Araya rims. I definitely know no Mavics came on any Centurions that I know of, even the Italian job (Fiammes). There must have been a ton of wheelsets made with the Mavic Open 4 CD's and such. Nice rims. I may email the guy and see what's up. Hoods look good, etc. Make a nice cheap road bike with Sora STI's and the 7-sp Light Action group.... |

T-Mar My 1987 pink and yellow 60CM Dave Scott/ Ironman had Wolber Super Champion rims on it. The bike had never been riden when I got it in 2007. I just checked the add and a different bike is coming up from the same guy.Ugly looking spray can job.

Ed Super Champion is not the model name. It's part of the brand name. I'd have to double check to make sure but I believe that they were separarte companies that merged. |

That same Prestige is on eBay right now... |
Another S/N to add. This is an '87 LeMans RS. 64cm st ctt. S/N: N7H5477.
All original except for the consumables, the pedals and the saddle (pretty snazzy, eh?). As I got it: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y21...eMans_0001.jpg Refurbished: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y21...eMans_0023.jpg |
I have a feeling this might be a Centurion, but which one? Only the post and BB came with the frame, forks, headset, wheels etc, were just lying around in the stockpile.

Any ideas? |
Given the condition of the bottom bracket shell, does it really matter?

OK, I see what you're talking about. Whew!
It's certainly from the Centurion manufacturer of the era. The serial number is in that gray region where it could be 1984 or 1985. Currently I'm leaning towards the latter. Most of the upper 1984 models had different stay caps and the mid-range models tended to have top mount shifters. Are there any bottle bosses and id so, how many sets? |

These are 520 bead hook tires. The Pasela is currently installed on the front of this bike. It is a beautiful bike made with quality in the country of Japan of cro mo tubing. LC America the Beautiful Many people have no idea what the 520 front is all about. I found another model of Panaracer tire, too. My version of that bike still has the Panaracer Technova tires (18 wide). It's about to become someone else's, though. The bike is easily upgradeable to STI shifting if you have the 7-sp rear, and just as easily to 8-sp if you want to toss on a different rear wheel w/cassette. It's a hard bike to explain, until someone under about 5'3 rides it, and most of them really like it. Great bike. |

Beautiful bike. Is this the super-clean one that was on eBay recently a few weeks ago (there's another one on there now). Various manufacturers were allowed, I guess to produce a Terry model, and none of them were low end. Search "Terry" on this site for a recent thread.

Here's my contribution to the late 70s dataset: the saddle is date stamped 1976, so I believe it's a circa 1977 LeMans 23", S/N: JN63076
AFAIK, everything is original down to the bar tape and D.I.D. chain, except for the tires which I've changed, and the aftermarket kickstand which was already installed when I acquired the bike. OK, the Cinelli Centurion stepchild is finally done, and delivered. I think he likes it just fine.
Tires arrived at 4 pm, he arrived at 5:15, we fit, we talked, we ate, it's gone.... Serial number, like all the Equipe models, is the size "52" 89 Chorus group (thanks, Spinz) Record hubs/Sun M14A rims, Record headset. bb courtesy of cyclotoine, bars - JunkYardBike, decals by cyclomondo, paint job by Porkchop Customs...2x7 indexed, Regina America cogs |

1991 or 1992 maybe, Diamondback as Centurion left the scene. Unusual group for me to see, a 3x7 RSX triple, with a much more compact crankset than I've seen before. I sold it about a year ago, gave him a buy-back guarantee if he upgraded. He did, so I bought it back. I've got some work to do: smaller stem, bars rolled forward and set for riding the drops, lighter saddle, but it should be fine.
|
What size is that Diamondback? Just testing my eye-gauge, guess a 58-60.
I need to post my current two before one goes away. |
To JunkYardBike:
It IS Snazzy! My Uncle gave me a Sport DLX JUST like this (same paint scheme) - I will take some snaps of it and get the serial in the database pronto! (So now I have accumulated THREE Tange frames - the LeMans 12, the Sport DLX, and a Fuji Discovery MTB I bought for $10) I love them all, but the Sport DLX seems to fit better for racing, the LeMans 12 is a little longer (better for panniers in my opinion, and then the Fuji is for commuting and tooling around town on)... Pretty bike, dude! (I prefer that "Miami Vice" look!) Update: OK, I am having problems reading off the serial (thick paint on the BB)... Here is what I think it says: (F?)70509(6?)0 Here are the pics: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2769/...b7bc0340_m.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2786/...8b679355_m.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2712/...c5941c8c_m.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2475/...84e29c7a_m.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2714/...64cddf73_m.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2573/...281a009d_m.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2653/...82c73faa_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3529/...7182e882_m.jpg Judging by the components, what year would you all say this is? It has Shimano SIS Light Action shifters (plastic), and Sugino VP crankset. Also has Shimano aluminum brakes. It is marked "Made in Taiwan" - I know its prob mid to late '80s... I love those colors! Peace!! -theguy |
