Bruised Saddle Care

I took a little spill on my ride to work this morning and scuffed the leather on my saddle a bit. It's a relatively new Ideale model 88, and I'm trying to take good care of it. The skin of the leather has been scratched and is peeling up slightly in back. Is there anything I should do (besides the usual Proofide routine) to heal that particular wound? Or should I stop worrying and leave it alone? I'd appreciate any help from those with experience with leather saddles. Thanks!

You might try looking somewhere that has a lot of shoe care products, if you can find a product called "scuff be gone" it might help. It's a clear liquid, you apply it with a small applicator that's on the top of the container, and on leather it somehow makes some scuffs disappear, and on some it makes them very close to invisible. Use it sparingly, it does change the finish of the leather slightly, leaving it a little duller than surrounding areas.

Correction: it's called "Scuff Away," not "Scuff Be Gone." Sorry about that. Good stuff, I brought a bruised and battered Flite saddle back from the dead after a mishap with a tree a few years ago with it-

Work some neetsfoot oil into the area to make the color blend, then seal with Sno-Seal...
