Here is a nice Motobecane Grand Jubile I bought a few weeks ago. Needs a good clean up a tune up and some bartape instead of the handgrips.

But, the main physical attribute that defines a Classic Mixte frame is the twin top tubes that go from the head tube, at an angle, or with a slight curve; past the seat tube, thusly creating the Mixte Stays, that continue to the drop outs.
I have read on this forum, where some people have called the Mixtes with a single top tube, “Faux Mixtes”, or “Near Mixtes”, but since they have the Mixte Seat Stays, and are a Unisex bike, I would just call them a Mixte, but maybe not a Classic Mixte.
Oh well, just call it whatever you want, it won’t care…

It was supposed to be part of a his and hers build to be entered in our church auction next spring. Problem is that its so nice I don't want to tear it down and powdercoat the frame. There are a few nicks and such but its really nice so I may just clean it up and replace the cables and such and sell it. then find another frame and fork to do the buildup. I really haven't decided yet.

"3 stays per side" I've seen really tall mens frames with the extra twin tubes that run from the head tube to the rear dropouts. I wouldn't call those mixtes.
Seems like the faux-mixte came about because of the weakness of the classic mixte. I've seen many Peugeot mixtes and kids muscle bikes with similar twin tubes, with bent frames right where the twin tubes join the head tube. They were prone to this damage due to front end impacts. I suspect the single tube replacement was a stronger alternative since it seems more common on newer bikes, since circa 1980. Or perhaps it's cheaper or easier to manufacture.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
Built this fixte up for a friend after pulling the frame, fork, and wheels out of a dumpster... and the bike was in perfect shape.
It's an '88 Kuwahara Sport 12.

My wife hasn't been riding as of late and I finally got her to join me. When she did she decided she hated her '90s Specialized Hardrock for road riding, so she hit craigslist and came up with this:

I'm so proud ...
(Though I wish she would have decided to do this a couple of years ago when I had a pair of Moto Grand Tourings in the garage for flip material -- this one appears to be a '76 or '77 Nomade).
Need to replace the saddle and brake pads and retape the bars. Thinking of swaping out the wheels with my roller bike ...

I don't see it happening. She rode the bike on her own today (first time she has ridden w/o me in ... oh ... 25 years). I guess if she is going to cheat on me, I'm glad it's this way (or is this just the first step?) ...

The wife's 1978 Raleigh Super Course II. I got it as a frame, fork and headset and built it up thusly. Sturmey-Archer AW three-speed hub, modern S-A front generator/drum brake hub. Both with wingnuts!
