It's amazing that anyone would NOT know what a unicycle is, but that's the way it is. I was out riding mine a day or two ago and three boys about 9-11 or so saw me. They were saying stuff like "cool!". Then as I got closer, one said "Look, it has a seat!" I guess up until that point, he had assumed I was just impaled on that shaft or something.
I've noticed there are a number of ads on Ebay for artwork featuring "unicycles' that are in fact penny-farthing bicycles, and people just don't know the difference. |
I just found one of those chrome Schwinn unicycles. Guess I will have to advertise it as a circus
bike, lol.,,,,BD |
Speaking of unicycles, somebody's been learning to use photoshop lately:

That's an odd one. They do have electric unicycles (search on youtube) but they don't look anything like that.

^^^ Look at the date of the post....

Say what you will about converting a Varsity, but
there is no way that is a 54cm. Looks like a 48 to me. http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/bik/626467492.html |

That electric unicyle post has been changed and now says "There are no electric unicycles". I beg to differ:

They'd probably get far more looks if they just retitled the ad to "SCHWINN FASTBACK MUSCLEBIKE"...? -Kurt |
You've all seen the one sentence ads that give little more than the fact that they have a bike for sale, right?
This one takes it one step further. They only felt the need to write a title, lol.,,,,BD http://houston.craigslist.org/bik/627188280.html |

Good luck, I think he added an extra zero on the end by mistake. I'd like to see someone 5'10" try to ride
it. That would be a hoot, hehe.,,,,BD http://houston.craigslist.org/bik/627740679.html |

I just got back from inspecting a pair of 60s era Mizutani tourers posted today on CL. All I can say is WHAT A JERK! I should have smelled something foul after our phone conversation, telling me I had only 20 minutes to get to his location. What he kept describing as good condition Japanese made bikes turned out to be 60s era Mizutani imports in 21" size. But they looked like they were left outside since the 60s! Rust everywhere. Chain was stiff as a rod. One bike had the front end twisted from a crash, the other had the seat stay rusted through. Both forks' chromed ends were covered in orange rust. Sad, these were once very well made bikes. Nitto forged stems still looked good. High flange hubs still turned relatively smooth, although the skewer levers had about rusted through, and the rims out of true. One seat had a carpet remnant glued onto it! The seller is a Russian fellow, and had a real bad attitude. From his email address, I suspect he was a former communist party advocate. I thought perhaps for the hubs and stems, I'd be a nice guy and offered him $25. Instead, he says, for me, it's now going to be $35 if you want them or no deal. Uhhh, it doesn't work that way in the USA! As bikes, they weren't worth $10! I had enough of this guy and didn't feel like he would understand had they been in actual good condition, a person would be willing to pay for a collectible bike. Not pay him to haul away his garbage. I'm sure some poor kid looking for a fixie candidate will pay him his $30 and then subsequently spend hundreds trying to restore them, only to abandon they frames. |
