The rear hub is pretty rare I would imagine, but c'mon? $800?,,,,BD

You might be surprised how much people pay for those hubs. I don't think anyone will exercise the Buy it Now on that auction though.

This may have appeared in Numbskulls before: $100 (incl. shipping) opener for a broken bike

This guy had his 2002 Specialized Allez listed for $100, and if you read the ad you'll find people called him to tell him he was asking too little. Come on! Who's the numbskulls? Well, the bike-cops telling the guy he's selling for too little but mostly the original guy for apparently having an understanding of bikes, being familiar with the bikes on craigslist, knowing what he paid for the bike to begin with, listing it for $100 and then construing that price- that he chose- as a rip-off: "I am not trying to be greedy or inconsiderate, but I do not want to get ripped off". Dude, being dumb about what you should ask for your bike isn't being "ripped off" by the people who want to pay you that price, it's just being dumb. This isn't some little old lady selling her husbands old campy equipped paramount for $5 because he's dead and she doesn't know anything about it, this is a dude who's familiar with the bike he purchased himself for training purposes, who's craigslist savvy, and we can assume smart enough to hold a job that at least allows him to buy an allez and pedals and shoes. Arrrrg! That "ripped off" makes me so angry! The ad ought to read "I'm a victim. A victim of my own stupidity and all of you bad men tried to take advantage!" Arrrrg! |
there's parting out a bike and then there's PARTING THE HELL OUT OF A BIKE. See below:

would have been even better if it said "not CAMPAGNOLO, TREK, SPECIALIZED" etc. in the title, but you have to give the guy credit for trying... and if you're worried it will get broken, you can always tack on a little extra for insurance.

Studded snow tires $120
Either this guy is very persistent (months) or he sells a few pairs every other week: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/d...267597206.html |

True dat, but I'd darn sure have a native speaker edit any ad I had the gall to place in a language I can't speak. An ad like that carries overtones of somebody who thinks he's a lot smarter than he actually is.
Heheh -- which pretty much includes everybody, huh? :D |
The dingo cruiser is back. It's gone up $100 since last time. This is the bike I mentioned earlier that has been on CL since last summer off and on. Never takes a new picture or anything.,,,,BD

Check out the spelling of Trek on the downtube
http://cgi.ebay.com/Trek-Mens-Bicycl...QQcmdZViewItem |
I notified him it's not a Trek, and that it's worth considerably less than his starting bid. I'm sure I'll
get blown up at.,,,,BD |
It doesn't look 65 cm either.
|
And its not a "2004"
|
And it's not like he has a dozen other auctions running and forgot to change the image.
|
I think he gets Numbskull of the Week consideration.
|
|
I think that might mean an "air blow" It's like a blow gun for an air line, but I think it has a chuck style end. The idea is that you plug it in like a chuck, but you can control the air flow without a regulator. If he didn't mean one of these, then he is a numbskull.
Here's another one for the english language challenged list, haha.,,,,BD http://houston.craigslist.org/bik/268457288.html |

I was thinking those little whippet shaped things used to inflate a tire while on the road.
