The headlight I removed, along with the dynamo, and the mirror will go as soon as I fugure out how to remove it without destroying it.
The flick stand may come in handy, if not I'll remove it as well. I'm going for a clean appearance without too many odds and ends.
I cleaned the bike off and it's looking great, hopefully I can get the new tubes/tires/tape and get it running this week!

I knew it was a Pinerello, I ran across an auction for a set of old decals and then the saddle was about 10 listings down. Its the shape of a Concor... Any idea of who made these for Pinerello?

Check it out. One of my local drive by pawn shops had been leaving the bikes inside. I stopped by today to see what was around. I walk in and the normal Magna/Huffy lineup greeted me. Then I saw a bit of grey brown peeking out of the row. I see a Schwinn badge, and canti brakes sticking WAY out to the sides ala Dia Compe brakes. Turned out to be a smoked chrome Impact. Unknown year, since the badge is not stamped? 4130 main tubes and stays, forged drops, Suntour Accushift X3040, Sugino MP triple cranks, laser straight Weinmann concave rims, WTB Velociraptor tires in perfect shape. I will have to lose the ridiculously tall stem and riser bars, so it can fit me better. Frame is just about my perfect size. The best part? I just happened to walk in on sale day, and got it for $43 with tax!,,,,BD

I picked up a Motobecane Grand Sprint last night that I won on Ebay, my size and in good shape except that the rear wheel is a chromed replacement. I have a few alloy wheels to select a replacement from, so no worries. Vitus 888 tubing and Shimano Altus LT running gear. Picture to follow (along with my two catches from last week).
I always liked the Motobecane grips (though I never owned one with them) and the durable paint. This bike will be added to my stable.
I was driving to his house as it was turning dark, and realized that it may be hard to find. Then I saw a yard with a pickup truck and a trailer full of bikes. I knew I was there.
I figured then that the guy (sells as Nanticoke-Joe on Ebay) was the reason I never find bikes at garage sales and thrift stores... but it turns out that his primary sources are police auctions etc.
Anyway, I will be stopping by sometimes to check what he has available... and maybe see if he would mind getting help fixing up his finds occasionally in exchange for first crack at any good bikes/parts... Maybe I could even store a few out of the weather...
It seems that most of what he sells is bikes to kids, and the adult bikes seem to get ebayed.
BTW - he is only 1.8 miles away, so I will ride over to do my shopping.

I'm not going to tell you what I paid for it (you could find out), because it's more than I could have bought a new B17 for, but it's a B5N, the poor man's Professional. I like the pebbled upper surface. Smells real nice. Anybody know how to date these?

On the metal back plate underneath, there should be two number stamped for the year. ie 78 for 1978. That's my guess at it's date too.

I just passed on a 1977 raleigh gran "something" in decent condition for 250, completely stock (except the tires) including a brooks in great condition, did I do something wrong? Looking at the horrible pics and misspelled description, I thought it was a professional. I was so disappointed that I left.

I've been wanting an Italian racer for a while and this guy showed up next to a pile of trash, just the frameset and a Campy front brake and rusty chain a-hangin' on. Sadly, it's a 58 and I'm the larger side of 60 (6'3")
I was trying to find a trade for a 60+ Italian frame but that wasn't happening so I guess I'll finish stripping it and sell it for bike money. It feels so much more wholesome when it's trading though. Dang.

Orange Super Sport. Nice paint, 7/10 Brooks, 3 piece crank conversion.
No pics yet, at the Indy swap meet. The crank conversion was a surprise, a pleasant surprise.
I very nearly bit on a $75 1956 Robin Hood with what looked like an alloy shell AW. Not perfect, but very presentable.
Was a fun swap meet. Lotsa Schwinns.

Nothing super special, but will keep me from heading to the LBS as often. I stopped by the flea market, nothing much there. I stopped by this one booth, and this guy had a 3 foot tall cardboard box FULL of 27 x 1
presta tubes. I bought 15, although I probably should have bought more, but what they heck. They will probably be there tomorrow too. $1 a piece!!
And nope, they're not dried up, hehe. I pulled one out of the pkg and stretched it pretty hard. No dry rot!
They're also pretty thick, not that flimsy stuff they sell now. These look they may have been a factory type
supply. No boxes, nothing on the tube but the size, very generic.,,,,BD

eBay. The auction ended 7:43 this morning, PST. Nobody was awake on either coast to bid against me, apparently. There was only one other bidder, and he was even a bigger cheapskate than me - his snipe price limit stopped at $25.
Mine was higher - but not by much.

No catches today, but I have three catch updates? The Nishiki International SS, The Impact with new tires/bars/seat, and last but certainly not least, the somewhat finished Tesch S-22. I spray died black synthetic cork to match the suede saddle. I think it turned out okay?,,,,BD

Well I have picked up a few bikes over the past couple of weeks. Yesterday I took a drive and got a nice Trek 400 and a heavy but very good condition Fuji Sport 10. The Trek has a 59.5-60 CM frame, which is too tall for me, but a size I have been looking for for a friend. The Fuji has really nice paint is a small frame, about a 48 CM, with 27 inch wheels. It came with steel wheels (the rear has a dent) and new cheap 70 psi tires.
I also got a Peugeot that is in pretty good shape. A little clean up, new set of cheap tires and back out the door it will go.
I am planning on upgrading the Fuji with parts from the bin (the picture shows it with a set of alloy wheels I have from a bike I parted out last year and a seat on an alloy post) to lighten it up and then I will see if I can find a not so tall person looking for a road bike.

It's been a while since I've caught anything. This was worth the wait.
'89 Waterford Paramount (53cm red)
Superbe pro front brake
Superbe BB and headset
Superbe pro crank set
Cinelli stem (not sure what model)
Selle san Marco Rolls saddle (white)
Serfas saddle
Campy record rear track hub laced to mavic cd4
Superbe pro front hub/ mavic cd4
$FREE$!!!
The frame has large patches of surface rust (too large) all over. It will be repainted eventually. Today I need to sand down some of the areas and primer just to keep the rust from progressing until I save up some money.
