That looks "box fresh" love the 60's chain guard, with the bike in such good condition I bet the headset will just require cleaning and fresh grease.

I'm heading to do the look around at the police bike auction today. Its a cruddy day but it should be alright. I will bring back pics of anything or everything I take for any knowledgeable people who want to coax me to buy some good stuff

Sometimes it just is to good to be true . Went out this morning to look at a black Gitane Super Corsa from the sixties/early seventies. Price was 100 $. Very nice bike until I noticed that the lower headset cup was not flush. Further investigation sadly showed a bulge under the upper headtube lug. Often there is a reason why an old bicycle has not been ridden or sold. I would have loved that frame (my size) with its longish wheelbase and brazeons for fitting fenders. Well you can't win them all.

Well, I went and picked up a bike for Oldy57 today, a Rudge Whitworth, and let me tell you, he got a bargain! I'll leave it to him whether he tells you what he paid. The bike has a 4 speed Sturmey Archer FG generator hub, and it's just wonderful. Take a look!

I picked up this Hercules today at a garage sale. The hub is stamped '71. All I had to do was air up the tires, and give it about 3 hrs of cleaning and tuning. It rides really nice. It’s got a Raleigh fork on it, which I guess is fine since it was made by Raleigh anyway. Unfortunately, I’ve got so many bikes I probably wont be able to keep it.

This Motobecane Astra Tour de France followed me home from the thrift store yesterday. I'm guessing it's a '71 -- most of them I've seen are. It's wearing the wheels destined for my Super Sport while I work the kinks out of its stock Rigidas (with big ol' wingnuts). Stunning color; it'll look nice once it's detailed and I freshen up the pinstriping that matches the ivory headstock. I'm thinking a pair of ivory-painted fenders, some upright bars off an old Pug, and I think I've even got a set of white grips somewhere.

Picked up a Windsor Carerra Sport yesterday for $22.00. The frame is a 58 and I have a friend who is always looking for good 57-58 frames to turn into fixies. This looks like a good candidate as all the cable guides are clamp on --

That looks like it got hit pretty hard, that fork is bent back a lot. I think I can see some air between the lugs on the top-tube or maybe it is just the angle.
Do you have a spare fork for it?

Picked up still another set of 27 x 1 1/4 wheels today at the flea market. Weinmann rims with Maillard (not helicomatic) hubs. Once again, $10. Seems to be the magic price at this place. Everything is ten bucks it seems, lol.,,,,BD

Monterey with one R is a Murray thing. Shimano or Sturmey hub? Any chance of a better picture? Looks Columbia like somewhat, with the rear stays below the seat cluster.,,,,BD

I have been on bit of a dry spell until today. First decent weather weekend were I could go out to garage sales led to these two bikes three houses down from each other.
Schwinn Letour with all Le tour branded stuff. Tires need replaced and it could use a cleaning. It is a 23" frame. It must have been a Friday made bike because there is no stamp on the headbadge. Guessing late 70's?
Shogun with Tange No. 5 tubing in great shape. Shimano 600 arabesque shifters, f/r deraill., and brake levers. Shimano Tourney brakes and crankset. The cable clips for the rear brake are Dura Ace. Previous owner was nice enough to put some new Profile bar tape on for me too. This bike should clean up real nice.
I paid $10 for the Le tour and $25 for the Shogun. I also passed up a few others today. A Centurion Sport DLX that had been crashed (owner was surprised I was able to tell just by looking at it), and a large Fuji (can't remember model) that they wanted $70 for it. I offered $30, they refused and I walked away.
Up for tomorrow is the https://www.ann-arbor-bicycleshow.com/
Pics shortly

Raleigh Grand Prix - today from side of road going out to the council hard rubbish collection - $0.00.
It has som erust spots and needs some work - as you can see not quite entirely original. I am chuffed I have been trying to find a basic frame for single speed conversion for a while now. This one fits me well and has very nice lugs/badge and the right drop outs. Everything I need! I have a separate thread in this forum - seeking assistance in dating it - from the serial # its 1975 or 1985 - and I can't tell which! Hoping 1975 tho.

This was a win - £50 on eBay. Loved Oldy57's Rudge so much that I knew my lightweight version wasn't enough - I needed the real thing! Now I need to sell a pile of stuff.

Passed on two today. One was a Diamondback Centurion "momentum" IIRC. It was just too far gone. 700c's
with rusty spokes, big dent in the top tube, duct tape bar wrap. Sad...... The other was a Schwinn Sprint, I passed on it for obvious reasons. Suntour accushift X1500. Not even CrMo.,,,,BD
Oh well, next weekend could be better..... Bike shop guy was refurbing a Parkpre MTB though. It weighed almost nothing! I believe it was lighter than my Trek 560.
